The Cock Inn, Clare

Lovely Adnams pub here. Always got a nice guest ale on. Lovely little walled garden for the summer. Very nice food as well. Eaten here countless times and it's always been quality fodder. Best pub in the village in my mind.

The Plough Inn, Hundon

A must to visit when their small but superb beer festival is on. Very friendly and enthusiastic landlady, knows her beers! Terrific views from the garden here as well. Eaten in the bar and it was very nice. Not amazing but very nice. restaurant always looks a little to posh for an oily tike like me!

The Compasses, Littley Green

Superb out of the way pub with those wonderful Bishop Nick beers. Had a couple of pints of Heresy, clean crisp and on point. Another of the all those all too are pubs with a tap room. Gorgeous setting. Going to try there Hopstock beer festival next year. Have to agree with another reviewer, service was pretty slow. And have to say the fella behind the bar was a lot friendlier to his regulars than too new faces like myself. Still, these are small gripes in the scheme of things. A wonderful traditional pub with beers to match.

The White Horse Inn and Hotel, Ridgewell

Great selection of beers, changing regularly. Had a lovely Nethergate mild on last visit, the name escapes me. Ales straight from the cask. Food not to bad. Well worth visiting.

The Dove, Bury St Edmunds

Best pub I've been in for a long time. Superb selection of beers, usually about 8 on offer. Had a lovely pint of Maldon Gold. Friendly, relaxed but buzzy atmosphere. How a pub should be...

The Fox and Hounds, Steeple Bumpstead

Love this beautiful village pub. Very small, usually only 2 or 3 ales on but always very well kept. Glorious food, friendly staff and regulars. Had a lovely pint of Nethergate's Umbel ale on last visit. Going back very soon...

The Ship Inn Hotel, Porlock

Lovely pub in a lovely village. Very cosy, great selection of beers, we had Proper job, one of about eight ales on offer. Only had time to stay for half an hour, will without doubt return....

The Barrel of Beer, Beer

Awful! Chilled real ale, one of the staff over friendly to the point where it was creepy, the other looked like we were there to spoil his day. Wouldn't let us have a bowl of chips with our round of drinks for five. Shabby tired decor. Never again.

The Brewery Tap, Sudbury

Superb! Had a pint of Monks Gold from the Tring brewery. Well, 3 to be exact! Great selection of ales, nice relaxed but bubbly atmosphere. Highly recommended...

The Queens Head, Hawkedon

Went for sunday lunch and have to say that although its not cheap, its has to be some of the best food I've had in a pub in a long time. The beef was cooked to perfection. The Wherry was on top form, sadly the guest ale, which was tribute today, was finished. But the St Peters fruit beer (grapefruit) was gorgeous. Beautiful Building, friendly staff, friendly regulars. A real hidden gem this....

The Crown Inn, Linton

Popped in on Tuesday on the way home from Cambridge, had a lovely pint of JHB, my girlfriend had a cracking pint of Woodfordes Admirals Reserve. Lovely fire, Locals a bit in their own world, but then it is their local! Fella behind the bar very friendly and helpful, will have to eat there sometime soon....
