The Haywain Inn, Little Corby

A small local tucked away in this Cumbrian village, it's the only pub left there after the closure of The George Inn. It's not on the main A69 so most folk will miss it driving through...is it worth a small detour for? Probably not, but if you are in the area and not in a hurry it's worth popping in.

Real ales on tap, dominoes and cards, dartboard and TV; if the bar lacks a certain character in the decor there should be at least a character or two propping up the bar.

Vauxhall Griffin, Vauxhall

A great 'local' for a quiet pint on a Sunday afternoon, but packed Fridays and Saturday nights so it offers something for everyone I suppose! After the recent refurb it's my favourite in the area, they just need to get the food sorted out. Super jukebox though too.

The Wellington, Strand

I couldn't tell you if the beer or the food was nice here...the staff were so rude I didn't bother to buy anything! Depressing to find a pub in such a central location, no doubt frequented by many tourists which wastes it's potential on staff who don't give a toss about the customers. Avoid.

The Crown And Two Chairmen, Soho

We've been here a few times with our knitting group (I Knit London) and it's one of favourites! If previous reviewers thought it was too smoky they should head for the 'fresh air' in the upsatirs bar which is non-smoking, has comfy booths and sofas and is a quite relaxing place for a midweek, after work meet-up. Granted downstairs is a bit dark and dingy, but the selection of beer is pretty good (when it's all on). True, if you want big plasma screens showing sport (yawn) then don't come here.
