The Hostelrie at Goodrich, Goodrich

Recently changed hands and benefitting from injection of cash. Good selection of ales including Wye Valley. Extensive menu including lots of sandwich options at reasonable prices, although some food options were better quality and value than others. Scallops particularly good, chilli disappointing. Very attentive and friendly bar staff.

The Anchor Inn, Lydbrook

Ancient pub with snug bars and entertaining collection of chickens in front garden that reputedly dwell in the trees. However, only one ale available (Sharps Christmas ale) but mulled wine was available on an exceptionally cold winter's day. Good choice of game pies at reasonable prices.

The Malt Shovel Inn, Ruardean

Well served Wye Valley ales, plenty of character due in large part to collection of old signs etc, but entirely unncessary distraction of television on in main bar.
