I am a regular in the anchor.
It is the best pub in lydbrook in my view.
One real ale on offer. Reasonably priced food. Lovely building. Great setting.

Disappointed. Closed at 12 noon on a Thursday, but open when I walked past again at 20 past. No ales on - lager or cider. One couple there, locals deep in deep conversation with the landlady, a foreign lady I had trouble understanding. Had planned to eat but the welcome was lukewarm to say the least so bolted a pint of Carling lager and left. Can't see them being open much longer from what I saw. Shame, lovely old building and nice location.

Ancient pub with snug bars and entertaining collection of chickens in front garden that reputedly dwell in the trees. However, only one ale available (Sharps Christmas ale) but mulled wine was available on an exceptionally cold winter's day. Good choice of game pies at reasonable prices.

possibly THE most welcomming pub i have been in, both the staff and the locals and to finish it off, the home made pies are as tasty as any i have eaten anywhere and for a great price. If you are in the area its worth a look
