Chequers Inn, Lymington

What a lovely pub good beer and fabulous fire BUT in an empty bar on a Tuesday about 330 pm the landlord would not make me a cup of tea Thought he was joking at first particularly when he said it was girl's work I even said I'd make it myself He then remained in solitary splendour at end of bar If he had been apologetic it might have been acceptable

Should be SUCH a good pub. Booked table one week ahead for 7 for Saturday lunch - arrived to find 1 hour wait for food, drinks in plastic glassses and very little sign of food coming from kitchen. Asked if we could just have plate of sandwiches - no-one seemed to care.

Renovation is tasteful and thoughtful - from loos to extra large dining table. Family licensees knowleageable about area and very friendly. Fully booked with local trade so couldn't sample food

Despite the name wine bar this seres great beer and wonderful food fairly reasonably and the BIGGEST fire you ever did see

Called in for lunch with friends about 1 on a Saturday - first reaction 'have you booked? no chance' Next barman knocked my pint down front, drenching my clothes while rushing past then offered to 'top it up in a minute'. Ignored me and went to attend to vitally important credit card transaction, then when challenged was grudging in his remorse. No one appeared to be actually eating so couldn't comment on food, but they were 'expecting a party of 16' - no sign of them while we were ther, so 7 quick lunches didn't seem diffricult to us!
