The White Hart, Basingstoke

Beer was nice, atmosphere was OK, toilets stunk to high heaven.

The Cap in Hand, Hook

A lovely pub, a great beer, and superb staff. No more has to be said.

The Fountain, New Malden

Beer well kept, staff friendly, good atmosphere.

The Three Mariners, Bagshot

Looks iffy on the outside, but on the inside it looks superb! Popped in at lunchtime today, 5 real ales on the go. Had the Doom Bar which was in superb condition. Service was very friendly. The only gripe was the short measures I was getting with each pint I had. Good pub though.

Penny Black, Leatherhead

Popped in for a couple of pints at lunchtime. Very overpriced. 2 pints of Krony and a pint of bitter come to 11.20, where it's less than a tenner in my local in Hampshire. Real ale is typical for a Youngs pub, although the Tribute that was on was superb. Won't be coming back though until I win the lottery or get hired by Lord Sugar.

17 Nov 2011 17:15

Old House at Home, Overton

Thought an update was in order. Three real ales, good choice of lagers and ciders, as well as Theakston's Dark Smooth. A friendly and welcoming atmosphere from staff who are very focused. Food is top quality, and very reasonably priced.

The Half Moon and Spread Eagle, Micheldever

Wow! Went in yesterday and I was very, very impressed. Beer was lovely, service was sensational.

The Bakers, Basingstoke

Average pub. Beer rather good though.

30 Jun 2011 20:21

The Kings Head, Salisbury

Went in with a friend today. Ordered 2 different pints of real ale. Mine was just drinkable, and my friends looked and tasted like sludge. Food was OK though.

21 Jun 2011 14:36

The Crown and Anchor, Winchester

Very pleased with this pub, beer was superb, the barman very polite and friendly (as were the regulars) and the pub was very clean and tidy.

Old Gaol House, Winchester

Visited there today for the first time in about 6 years. I can sum my experience up in 6 words... Beer rubbish, food cold, tables filthy.

21 Apr 2011 14:18

The Barley Mow, Oakley

Just got back from a visit to the Barley Mow, and I have to say, the atmosphere is so much better than it was before. The beer was superb, the barmaid very friendly and polite. The only bugbear was the glass I was given for my second pint was very dirty. Other than that, looking good, so I've upped my rating slightly.

16 Mar 2011 17:51

Watership Down, Freefolk Priors

Went there tonight for the local quiz league match, and I was VERY impressed. 3 real ales on and a perry as well! Beer was of superb quality and the landlord very friendly.

14 Mar 2011 22:55

The Westgate Inn, Winchester

Visited the pub about 3 years ago whilst on jury duty in Winchester. A great little pub, beer superb and staff were friendly.

13 Mar 2011 18:08

White Hart, Overton

The pub no longer serves Thai food, just a traditional pub-grub menu. Prices are the cheapest in the area, and you get plenty of food for your money. The sunday roasts at 6.95 are recommended.

14 Feb 2011 07:57

The Barley Mow, Oakley

Don't quote me on this... but I've been told that Kev and Jenny are leaving this Sunday. Not sure if it's true, just something I was told last night.

2 Feb 2011 07:20

The Edmund Tylney, Leatherhead

Popped in recently for a couple of pints. Following my last comment about a miserable barman, it was nice to see smiling faces behind the bar. Beer was excellent, and the atmosphere was more friendlier than on my last visit.

29 Dec 2010 19:59

The Fox, Newfound

What a lovely pub this is! Popped in for the first time last week, and really enjoyed it. Beer was fantastic, service superb, and the atmosphere excellent. I will definately be making a return visit soon.

2 Nov 2010 16:22

The Oak, Oakridge

Nice looking pub. Had a pint of Ringwood Best, wasn't excellent, but it was drinkable. Barmaid and patrons seemed very friendly.

25 Aug 2010 08:56

The Coronation Arms, St Mary Bourne

A fantastic pub in the heart of the countryside. 3 real ales on (may have been 4, can't remember), and 1 scrumpy. Beer was excellent and service was good.

28 May 2010 05:37

The George Inn, Andover

Putting a billboard outside saying "Old Speckled Hen - 3.25" kinda put me off going in... then again, that's Greene King for you.

21 May 2010 20:23

The White Hart Hotel, Whitchurch

The pub now sells Arkells Pilsner lager for 2 a pint. Genius.

16 May 2010 19:22

The Cricketers Arms, Tangley

Popped in yesterday for a couple of very good pints of Swift One. The entire clientele of the pub were in their 40's, which made me feel out of place (I'm 25). Bar staff were very friendly and polite. No kids allowed (bliss), and make sure your mobile phone is switched off as they fine you 1 for usage.

Don't think I'll be going back here though, it's not really my scene.

2 May 2010 09:19

The Swan, Barton Stacey

Was very surprised to see a lack of customers this afternoon on my visit. The beer choice was good (Amber Otter, Swift One and London Pride) and the barman/landlord was very welcoming and polite. Recommended.

24 Apr 2010 18:32

The Fox, Tangley

Until today, the last time I entered this place I was only 15 years old. 10 years later, was surprised to visit here again. The place is fantastic. Bar staff are extremely polite and welcome, the real ale is fantastic although a bit pricey (3.20 average) - but the pub is amazing. Will attempt to try the food on my next visit.

24 Apr 2010 18:30

The George and Horn, Kingsclere

It would appear from this afternoon's visit that the landlord and his wife have left the pub. The future is now unknown.

18 Apr 2010 17:53

The Eagle Inn, Abbotts Ann

Popped in just before Christmas... 4 well kept real-ales, real friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff.

13 Apr 2010 20:42

The Station Hotel, Andover

Fantastic pub, what can I say? The landlord is extremely polite and always welcoming. Beer choice is really good and always well kept. The staff are really friendly, and the food is rather good as well!

10 Apr 2010 08:28

The Edmund Tylney, Leatherhead

Popped in yesterday for a bite to eat. The barman looked rather miserable, didn't smile once. Beer was very good. Pub looks great on the inside, decided to sit outside. Meal was kinda spoilt by the smokers outside, but was nice nonetheless.

10 Apr 2010 08:21

The George and Horn, Kingsclere

The pub has new management, and the landlord is really keen on real ale. 3 real ales present at recent visit (Mr. Chubbs, Lancaster Blonde and London Pride) - very well kept. The staff are friendly and welcoming, although it was rather quiet for a Sunday lunchtime.

16 Mar 2010 18:48

The Prince Regent, Whitchurch

Superb pub on the outskirts of Whitchurch. Prices here are the cheapest in the area. Three real ales available (Summer Lightning, Pigswill and Banks) and wide range of lagers and ciders.

16 Mar 2010 14:24

Railway Hotel, Whitchurch

The pub has now been demolished.

14 Mar 2010 09:29

Watership Down, Freefolk Priors

Visited the Watership for the first time last night since my last comment on the place. I must admit I was delighted with the way the pub has changed since the previous owners left. Greeted by a very friendly and efficient barmaid, two pints of Ringwood Best went down a treat. Other beers on at the time included Cumberland Ale and Hobgoblin. I didn't have any food sadly, but judging by the size of the meals I saw, I will have to try them when I'm next in the area.

A greatly improved pub. Keep up the good work!

13 Mar 2010 10:41

The Running Horse, Leatherhead

A lovely country pub. Beer is Shepherd Neame, but well kept. Bar staff extremely friendly and welcoming.

25 Jan 2010 08:32

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester

A very posh pub. Not one for the "young ones" (although I can talk, I'm 25). Beer was Gales/Fullers and was very nice. Bar staff friendly and welcoming.

12 Dec 2009 16:27

The Black Boy, Winchester

Well, where do you begin? This has certainly got to be the oddest pub I've ever been in. If you're into fire buckets and baboons in kilts, this is the place for you. Very welcoming barstaff, and the beer is superb, albieit a little pricey. No fruit machines or TVs to annoy you either, so this gets top marks from me.

12 Dec 2009 16:26

Kings Arms, Whitchurch

It's not very often I admit being wrong, but I'm prepared to make an exception. I recently made a return visit to the Kings Arms, and was very pleased. The beer (Abbot) was fantastic, and the service was superb. I will be returning to the pub in the future.

30 Sep 2009 09:14

Railway Hotel, Whitchurch

This pub is now closed.

30 Sep 2009 09:12

Lardicake, Andover

Any pub that has a cider on pump deserves my praise. It's unusual in this area. Nice pub, great atmosphere and friendly staff.

28 Aug 2009 16:54

Watership Down, Freefolk Priors

Went in for the first time since Mark and Alison left a few years ago, and I was horrified at what I saw... poor beer, poor service, the garden was a mess, and the atmosphere had gone. This used to be my local until I moved out of the area, and I'm just disappointed with the way it's gone downhill. I won't be returning in a hurry.

28 Aug 2009 16:51

The Harvest Home, Whitchurch

3 real ale pumps, only 1 working (Pedigree) - the place seems a bit empty these days. Beer was pretty good though.

28 Jun 2009 19:48

Kings Arms, Whitchurch

Went in for the first time in a while, and wasn't really impressed. The place seems so lifeless these days. Beer was OK, not the best.

28 Jun 2009 19:47

Lloyds No 1, Basingstoke

This place is a dump. Beer is average. Not my kind of place.

28 Jun 2009 19:42

The Royal Oak, Charlton

Made a visit to this pub in July last year, and I was very impressed. The beer was excellent, the staff friendly, and the garden to the side of the pub was large. I will endeavour to come back again.

28 Jun 2009 19:38

The Bourne Valley Inn, St Mary Bourne

The pub is very, very clean. Choice of beer was standard, nothing special although very well kept.

28 Jun 2009 19:37

The Maidenhead Inn, Basingstoke

5 real ale pumps, 4 of them in use. Decent beer selection, shame about the drunk idiot ruining the atmosphere at 2pm in the afternoon when I went in. Very friendly staff, always willing to chat with you. Beer was good as well.

23 Jun 2009 09:01

The Half Moon and Spread Eagle, Micheldever

Oh, and that's my Grandfather in the photo.

14 Jun 2009 15:05

The Half Moon and Spread Eagle, Micheldever

anonymous needs to go crawl under a rock and not return. This is a superb pub, with excellent staff, fantastic beer (if overpriced) and great food. Recommended.

14 Jun 2009 15:04

John Russell Fox, Andover

Went in there yesterday, only 1 decent real ale on, and the one I wanted wasn't ready yet. The place was full of screaming kids and idiotic chavs, and I found it hard to talk with my family when they were shouting the place. Normally, it's not a bad place to drink, but yesterday was not the best.

14 Jun 2009 15:01

The Propaganda Music Canteen, Andover

Not impressed with this place. 4.25 for a Magners was a rip-off in my book. Won't be returning.

14 Jun 2009 14:59

The Bell Inn, Whitchurch

Lovely pub in the heart of Whitchurch. The bar staff are always welcoming, and the beer is fantastic.

14 Jun 2009 14:57

White Hart, Overton

The beer could be kept better, but it's a great pub, with regular live music at the weekends. Karaoke nights are always the most popular night on the pubs calendar.

14 Jun 2009 14:54

The Greyhound, Overton

I'm really sorry, but I have to disagree with oldboots on the state of the real ale at the Greyhound. Since the new landlord took over last year, the place has been transformed. Regular live music from local artists, a friendly bunch of locals, and superbly kept beer are what keeps me coming back to this pub.

14 Jun 2009 14:52

Red Lion, Overton

This pub had a major makeover about 2 years ago, and if you used to visit before the renovation, you'll know what a dump it used to be (I should know, I worked there before the renovation). Caroline and Shannon have completely turned the place around. It's a much better atmosphere than it used to be, and I agree with oldboots, not a place for the local drunks.

14 Jun 2009 14:50

The Barley Mow, Oakley

I think cosmogirl is talking nonsense. Went in a couple of weeks ago, and it was lovely. The beer was superb (if a little bit pricey) and the landlord was very welcoming (although his jokes could be much better).

14 Jun 2009 14:48

Old House at Home, Overton

The new landlord took over in the summer of last year, and has improved the pub drastically. New and improved pub menu, better choice of real ale, and the atmosphere has improved greatly. Always worth a visit.

14 Jun 2009 14:43

Mawson Arms/ Fox and Hounds, Chiswick

Nice pub, the barman is friendly, beer is good and the food is great. 10/10

9 Aug 2007 13:29

Laarsens, Basingstoke

Not a bad pub. Beer's good, although the atmosphere's a bit iffy. Recommended.

24 May 2007 13:10

Watership Down, Freefolk Priors

The first pub I walked into as an 18 year old, and it never disappoints. Great ale, good food.

24 May 2007 13:09

The Greyhound, Overton

The best pub in Overton. Beer is superb, and the entertainment is superb. Friendly locals and staff who make you feel welcome.

24 May 2007 13:08

The White Hart Hotel, Whitchurch

Nice pub, good beer and atmosphere. The food is superb and reasonably priced. A must visit pub.
