I used to love going to this pub. Great food, beautiful scenery etc. Unfortunately the last two times I went there I was really disappointed. I asked the barmaid what lagers they had bc I could see around the bar, and she said "i dunno, look around the bar." Then she proceeded to read out the bitters. Then when I ordered the food, I gave them my table number, and the food was given to a different table, then taken back inside. by the time It came to our table all the chips were cold. The sandwich was okay at best. Just like I could have made at home.

On the plus side: clean bathrooms, nicely maintained garden, great quaint corners to get tucked away inside.

Negative: moody staff, just okay food.

Ok pub.

Dirty tables, dirty floors, dirty bathrooms, dirty glasses, dirty beer.

good local for cheap beer. but you get what you pay for.

Since my last review, I see that this pub has received loads of bad reviews. I wanted or know if our visit was a one time deal or what. I was happy to see some of the same staff as before, the older waitress and the american girl. They were actually the only two staff I saw there. I can see how slow it was as i was one of only three tables there on a weekday lunch. I think the menu has really expanded, including potato shells, wings, sandwiches, but also having a full dining menu available throughout the whole pub. I still can't see what everyone is moaning about. I think both the staff was very friendly, and the food was good. I can say that dining menu was quite expensive.

Well I was told they were turning into a Beefeater in Nov. So back to fast, cheap, average food. I think it's a shame, but I can see them getting really busy.

Fahrenheit 55, Guildford

I used to go here when it first opened, but it gets way too crowded for the 5 foot bar. You get to a point where you can't even walk. It fills up too quickly and you can't get in after 11. Ok, but nothing special.

The Boatman, Guildford

Great outside area by the river, nice on a sunny day. Food is good, but over priced, and service behind the bar is slow. Go for the scenery!

All Bar One, Guildford

Haven't tried the food, but it is a stereotypical bar in the evernings. Pricey drinks, but way less than it's counterparts open till 2. Ok music, great balcony for a place to sit down when it's busy. Stake a claim to a bar spot, long wait for drinks when busy. Get there before 11 on a weekend so you don't have to wait in line.

Worplesdon Place Hotel, Worplesdon

Great refurb! Excellent spirit selection (malt whiskeys, gins etc.) and home cooked food. It is pricey, but the food quality is worth it! Wonderful service. Good beer selection, Surrey Bitter, great local beer! Good specials. Negative: Non-Smoking, still closes at 11.

The Drummond, Guildford

Drummond refub is beautiful, but the food is overpriced for the cooking tecnique. Since you can see into the kitchen, i watched the chef spoon out premade risotto from a vat and microwave it. I can do that at home. The drink selection however is excellent! comfortable chairs, sofas, and tables. Fun games in the non-smoking section, but gets too busy, so get there early for any chance at a table.
