Waxy's Little Sister, Piccadilly Circus

Dropped by for a drink after leaving waxy's across the road and wasn't dissapointed. Found a comfy couch upstairs with the girlfriend and chilled out for the rest of the evening. Bar was busy and the one bar tender was coping well and even managed to wheel our order up in the small lift they have, not sure what its called, a dumb waiter??? or something like that. Anyways we loved it and will be back. Great pint of Guinness as well

Waxy O'Connors, Manchester

Went back to Waxy's again, this time for St Patrick's Day on Wednesday. It was packed! loved the live music, got myself a Guinness hat and struggled through work the next day with a sore head. It was worth it.

Waxy O'Connors, Piccadilly

Went back to Waxy's on Tuesday for Australia Day, with a bunch of Aussie mates, since the last time I went to an event there, it was a blast. Once again we weren't dissapointed. They had the same band on as before and the whole bar was jumping and my mates were happy when they were handed some Aussie cork hats from the barman so we were well decked out to fit the occassion. Plenty of VB, but Wednesday was a blur...

Waxy O'Connors, Piccadilly

Was there the other week for Arthurs Day (another reason for Guinness to have a party) and had a blast. The band that was playing were amazing, Bible Code Sundays, and the whole place was jumping. What a night.

Waxy O'Connors, Manchester

Had the opportunity to visit Manchester this weekend and had heard mixed reports about the Printworks but Waxy O'Connor's was fantastic. Coming from Glasgow I am well aquainted with Waxy's and wasn't dissapointed with their sister venue just south of the border. Made it there on Sunday for some live music, Sunday lunch was great and stayed most of the afternoon watching the GAA. Going back to Manchester to watch Man U in a few weeks so will be back.

DesVins Cafe and Wine Bar, St Pancras International Station

We caught the Eurostar on Friday for a romantic trip to Paris for our anniversary and we were recommended by a friend to try out desVins before we left. Our train was just after lunch so we decided to try out their menu and was happy to say it was excellent and we only wish we had more time to relax there. Loved the lasagna and splurged on a couple of expensive glasses of wine to toast the occassion. Next time we will give ourselves and couple of hours to savour a bottle or two and do some people watching.

Star and Garter, Putney

While chatting to the staff in another pub in Carary Wharf it was suggested I try out the Star & Garter, since I live in Putney. Always remember it as being M Bar but didn't realise it had undergone an amazing transformation. Don't consider myself a wine expert but we found ourselves trying quite a few samples before embarking on a long night of French and English wines. Even gave the cheese room a go which is a pretty unique concept and think I need to go back to sample the rest . Great bar, beautiful women, brilliant staff by the river, what more do you want?

The City Pride, Isle of Dogs

Was recently in the City Pride on Marathon Day and must admit it was probably one of the best days out in quite some time. We were told to go there since it was a good place to watch our pal dragging his way over 26 miles and we were not dissapointed. They had a couple of live bands on who were excellent, ate our fill of burgers and hots dogs from the BBQ and obviously had a few pints, I'm a convert to old speckled hen! Anyways 7 of us got a table in the beer garden and had a blast and even the staff, who were run off there feet, had time for a bit of banter and a laugh. Managed to cheer on Daniel as he ran by at around 1.30pm then spend the rest of the day in the sunshine. We will definetly be back so congratulations to the City Pride for a great day. (Gave you a 9 out of 10 since I got sunburn)
