The Blue Peter, Polperro

This has always been a lovely pub, it's just a shame about the people who run it..... The landlady seems to have a habit of being 'poisonous' at every opportunity, and this was again proved when a good friend of mine went there for a drink last week! They were kicked out for not a lot, but that seems to be the pattern! The beers have always been well-kept, but I think it's time someone else was given the chance to run it!

To all those commenting on the 'foul mouthed locals'. You will probably find this hard to believe, but I am one of many decent (local) people who live in Polperro, and intend to stay here. Despite certain comments, there is not a mass exodus of locals! Yes we accept that there are some persons here who are doing their level best to destroy the village's reputation, but there are many more of us who are not. It is not the landlord of the cottage's job to complain to police about incidents, as he is not living there; if you are staying in the cottage and experience trouble call the police, the licensing authorities and ahyone else who will listen. If there is negligence and contravention to license by the pub owners, and it continues, then the matter will be dealt with by the relevant people.

The Old Mill House Inn, Polperro

I Feel i have to put some things into perspective here. Like all businesses, pubs have good days and sometimes they have bad days. I have worked in the trade for many years, and site like this are a constant pain in the backside. The problem is, as you can't please all the people all of the time, some will be disappointed. These are the ones who will generally comment quicker on a forum than someone who has a good experience. It would be far better if those persons would actually speak up AT THE TIME and tell the staff/managers what the problem is, so they can be given the opportunity to sort it. To complain afterwards (esp. anonymously) is just weak. Come on people, use your voices - we don't bite!!

Tinaloise - you were a busy person that day of the 14th april weren't you? you commented on 6 pubs in Looe, 5 in polperro and 6 at Hebden Bridge. Did you visit them all in one day? you must tell me the secret!!
Love this pub and have used it for many years, great prices and many old friends.

Yes, it is expensive in there. Mind you. i heard that they spent a lot on a new kitchen so perhaps they have to pay for that?

I must say that I agree with jollyjohnb, when he says the toilets are smelly. It looks like they have tried to refurbish but it hasn't worled! Would not eat here because my view on all pubs is if they can't keep the public areas clean, what does the kitchen look like? Also seems to be full of kids.

Jubilee Inn, Pelynt

Changed hands last October. This pub is now fresher, and brighter (and extremely clean) with a good food and drink offering. Prices have gone up recently, but where haven't they? it seems the government would like us all to stay at home! well worth a visit!
