The Red Lion, Wooburn Green

This pub is going from bad to worse. Went there on Sunday to watch the footie and the place was overrun by screaming kids running around whilst their foul mouthed dad'd propped up the bar. The law is that children aren't allowed in pubs unless they are eating. These kids were not eating and the bar staff didn't care. In fact the barmaid Rachel gets my vote for most miserable and unfriendly barmaid in Bucks.

The Crown, Cookham

Suggest Maldenman stops his car next time he passes by. It's definitely a pub (although it serves food too). Very popular on Summer afternoons. A bit dead in the Winter.

The Harp, West Hendon

Have been to this place off and on for years. It's always been a hole. But go further along the road and experience Colindale and Kilburn and you'll consider The Harp a nice hostelry. OK for a quick lunchtime pint but avoid after 6pm and weekends. I once saw Bill Odie and friends in there after they had been birdwatching at the Welsh Harp reservoir!!

The Oystercatcher, Littlehampton

Anyone who likes Chef + Brewer or Harvester type places will be at home here. Not a bad place generally. gets very busy on Sunday lunchtime. Get there early as you can't book and the car park gets full. Fortunately for the Oystercatcher there are many grotty pubs in the area (see Elmer Hotel at Middleton on Sea) so this place rates higher than many. Best to go there mid week and not expect a gourmet spread, then you won't be disappointed. Prices average. Beer OK

The Elmer Hotel, Middleton on Sea

I don't know what it is about this area. The lanlords all seem to think that old folk (and there are lots of 'em in the town) have no taste buds and are happy to pay through the nose for microwaved tat. I believe the rooms are good but the food is awful. I've had the misfortune to be taken there a few times and honestly the standard has dropped each time. Eventually my wife + kids mutinied and stated they would rather not eat than have Nan waste her money again. Thus I'm afraid we've been there for the last time. Beer is ok and prices are average but believe me, there are better out there.

The Red Cow, Slough

Largish car park that allows parking for about 3 cars cos the rest of the space is taken up by a vintage bus and bloody hand car wash merchants. Running a pub in Slough is always going to be difficult since it's Chav City so let's look at the positives........ the M4 is only a few minutes away. Turn right for Wales.

The Crooked Billet, Little Marlow

No muzak, no darts, no chavs, but no atmosphere either.
Great location especially for a lunchtime drink in the Summer. Beautiful garden. Log fire in the winter. Car parking is all a bit haphazard, you just park where you can on the verge opposite mostly. The guvnor has tried to keep the atmosphere of an old pub whilst keeping the teenagers at bay. He has succeeded but there is just something missing and I can't put my finger on it. Bourne End/Little Marlow really needs a good pub and this is probably the best there is. If you are over 50 you'll love it but not one for the kiddies looking for slides and face painting.

The Hand and Flowers, Marlow

Went in with my wife for a drink in the early evening. Friendly staff were very accomodating even though we told them we didn't want to eat. Not sure it would be the same on a Saturday night. All previous comments are correct, this is a pub that's become a popular and expensive restaurant. Not really a pint and bag of crisps establishment, but there are plenty of those in Marlow so not to worry.

The Ship Inn, Langton Matravers

Typical no frills Dorset village pub. Great views and great atmosphere. Looks nothing from the street but worth a visit.
