Ye Olde Dolphin Inn, Derby

It's all about the beer. A quiet unassuming old (with the emphasis on old, it's the oldest) pub, where you'll get a very good beer.

The Old Silk Mill, Derby

The perfect pub for your hangover-destroying Sunday lunch whilst watchin the Sunday footy on the TV.

Great food.

The Blessington Carriage, Derby

Student pub, but don't let that stop you. The inside has seen better days and it tends to attract the Goth crowd. If you don't mind this then it's open late until 1am (or is it 12?), but it'll cost you a quid to get in (unless you're a woman).

Finished many good nights here, best in the summer when you can use the beer garden.

The Babington Arms, Derby

The problem is that it's at the wrong end of town for most pubs, but still it's hardly a long walk, 3 or 4 mins at most. It's a JDW so your usual JDW stuff applies, no music and daytime is full of OAP's and pissheads. That aside, it's a reasonable place, okay food and usually quiet for a swift pint or two. Fairly good beer choice. Perhaps more suited to a daytime drinking place than an evening.

Ryans Bar, Derby

Agreement with everything posted. A hidden gem. If you want a nice Irish pint, this is your place.

The Walkabout, Derby

Best place to end up at in Derby. Live bands on most Saturday nights. Great atmosphere, not too many tossers. Can get very busy at the bar. Walkabouts have a good formula and it works here too, usually a 'must' for a weekend night out.

Revolution, Derby

Loud and not really my sort of place, but it's not a bad establishment. If you're into your R'n'B and ear-bleeding dance music then this is the place for you. Attracts the [desperately trying to be?] trendy crowd.

Flares, Derby

Great place if your name is Wayne Rooney. Grab-a-granny and pissed up slappers. A shame really as Flares places can be a good laugh, sadly this one attracts the wrong crowd.

Wardwick Tavern, Derby

Popular pub with the footy crowd, though not overly loud and raucus. The have sport on the screen. Usually quite busy at a weekend. They do food too, though possibly not in the evening. Guest ales, nice beer. Good to stop off at for one or two on an evening out or some reasonable grub during the week.

The Shakespeare, Derby

My favourite pub in Derby. Many would say it's not very special, but I like it. It's quite small and doesn't attract many of the w*****s that other places do. A good place to kick the evening off, rarely overly busy.. just a nice atmosphere and sound music.

The Standing Order, Derby

Your standard wetherspoons fare in an old bank, nice setting. I'm not sure about the "Great place to pull" comment though, it's a good starting point to meet people, huge bar so service isn't normally a problem.

Lafferty's, Derby

This place is now called "Jorrocks" I believe, and yes.. it has got a bit rough over the years which is a shame as it used to be a nice place.
