The Star, Godalming

No-one has mentioned the live music evenings here. Went to one last year which was a great evening. Small pub in quaint old building. Cider a speciality, along with lots of varied real ales. Havent eaten here so can't comment on food.

Jack George Phillips, Godalming

Considering this building was a Waitrose supermarket before becoming a pub, it's not bad. The food is good value and adequate, but this is primarily a drinkers pub and the beer is consistently good and cheap. Our favourite is Abbot Ale, which is well kept and usually available. Our last meal there was a curry, which was nicely spicy, and filling.

The Inn On The Lake, Godalming

I like this pub. Whether you are in a big group, a quiet twosome or alone, you can drink (and eat) here in comfort. The staff are friendly, and when the sun shines, the garden is a lovely place with big, shady umbrellas to sit under as you sip your Prosecco, (or your beer). The real ale choice is a bit limited which is why I've only given it a 7. and yes, it does get crowded - because it's good!

The Trusty Servant, Minstead

I hope this pub has improved since we visited. It was quite simply the worst pub I've ever been in. Slow service, smell from the toilets and indifferent staff.

Horse and Groom Inn, Bourton On The Hill

Wonderful place to stay. Good food, beer, rooms etc. Lovely walks in area.

The Springhead, Sutton Poyntz

Visited this pub out of season. Only about 6 people in a pub designed to take dozens of people. Beautiful setting, but absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever, no welcome and tired, faded decor. (However if you're a film crew looking for a run-down looking 1970's setting - this is the place). Average beer.

The Bridge Inn, Preston

Friendly pub serving Abbot Ale and Old Hookey, our two favourite real ales. Enjoyed several live music events here.

Can't believe the negative comments about the food. We ate here on June 2nd and had a smashing meal. Cheerful staff and good real ale. Great walk from Godalming, Witley or Chiddingfold. Special events on every week, quizzes, childrens films, music events, boules in garden, llamas in the paddock. Some people are never satisfied it seems!
