The Mucky Pup, Angel, Islington

got to agree with the other comments - one of the best pubs around.

top quality drinks and atmosphere is amazing, everyone made to feel really welcome.

if i still lived in the area, i would go every night

The Castle, Angel, Islington

used to go in there when i lived in the area with my (now ex) girlfriend. always had a good time there, beer was always ok.

went there for the first time in a while and was plesantly surprised that things have stayed the same with regards to the atmosphere and staff.

def a place to pop in for a pint or 5!

The Midland Hotel, Hendon

i saw the regulars refuse to eat the food.

says it all!! and the kitchen is right next to the toilets....wtf?!

beer ok, pool tables guarded fiercely by regulars so hard to go in and have a few games with mates - 'its winner stays on mate' is their stock response to asking if they will be long. not against the rules but still, not great for the randomers.

fit barmaid is a plus

average at best and living on past glories i feel.

The Gallery, Hendon

they have gone for the 'west end' vibe as oposed to the 'north west london' vibe (where it is) - they almost pull it off. amlost.

beer is average, food the same. price is anything but average. being in zone 4 is evidently no barrier to them charging zone 1 or 2 prices.

not worth the money but the place is clean, toilets are fine and people are (generally) nice.

has a tendancy to be quite empty during the week though.

if you wanna spend a 1er on a night out, there are better places to go!

The Wishing Well, Hackney

what. a. shit. hole.

toilet reminds me of that scene out of trainspotting - the worst toilet in the world - it could have been filmed there! riviers of piss freely flow around the floor and the smell is, how shall i put this, intoxicating!

and dont get me started on the patrons, geez - if they had a brain cell between them it would be damages through drink abuse!

one to avoid at all cost. going to the supermarket, buying a 6 pack and drinking it in the rain is a more attractive option

Turnmills Top floor, Farringdon

a must see venue for the drinking clubber!

drinks none too cheap but amazing atmosphere and great music lineups.

high scores all round

8 May 2012 14:26

Castle, Farringdon

great place to go for a beer, highly reccomended. people lovely and atmosphere great.

didnt eat there but high marks on all other aspects

8 May 2012 14:24

The Cuban, Camden

lively atmosphere but beers way too expensive.

good cocktail options but toilets are on a different level to the bar so a trip outside and upstairs is not what you want to have to do after a few!

could be so much more

8 May 2012 12:57

The Railway, West Hampstead

not one to rush too and not one people are likely to rush back too!

that is unless you like being surrounded by the lower element of society who have little or no regard for anyone else but themselves.

beer is average to poor and service is only slightly better than that.

much better options within walking distance and probably one to be avoided

The Lower Ground Bar, West Hampstead

if you want to turn up somewhere at midnight, already having greased the wheeles considerably, this is your place. going in sober is not recommended!

open till about 3am on a fri / sat night the music is ok (usually popular music that fills the dancefloor and people can sing along too) the beer is non-existant - stick to the spirits - but the atmosphere is friendly and good natured.

found it to be a good pick up place - lots of both sex's seemingly using it for just such reasons.

all in all, turn up pissed and you'll usually have a great time. turn up sober and you might see it for what it is; dark, dindgy and overpriced.

go for the former option and have yourself a good night!

8 May 2012 11:51

The Black Lion, West Hampstead

only problem with this place is that the bar isnt big enough to accomodate the number of people it can hold leading to long waiting time at the bar.

nice outdoor area out back, split on 2 levels.

all in all a very nice place to drink, atmosphere friendly and lively without being overbearing.

one of the better options to drink in west hampstead and one to check out if not been before

8 May 2012 11:37

Alice House, West Hampstead

have seen this place change names almost as much as i have changed underwear and none of them have been any good.

the place is too small with a bar dominating the whole room leaving little in the way of space for patrons to relax.

service terrible and staff act like they are doing you a favour by serving you.

def one to avoid, the lion (about 30 meters away) is such a better option it is like offering someone yo sushi when there is a nobu next door

8 May 2012 11:34

The Old Bull and Bush, North Hampstead

was a beautiful, quirky pub full of atmosphere and lots of history. was being the operative word there. how can they still call it the old bull and bush when they gutted the place and made it look like any one of 1000's of other pubs.

real shame as was a definite must see before they ripped the soul out of it, hikes their prices up and got an inferiour chef in.

shame, real shame

8 May 2012 11:30

Spaniards Inn, Hampstead Heath

my grandpa used to go there on a sunday morning to drink beer and chew the cud with his mates. for that reason alone i have very fond feelings for this place!

started my 21st birthday celebrations there and then moved on.

old pub, steeped in history and if i am brutally honest, could do with a bit of modernization but overall a good place to go.

prices are slightly on the steep side but all in all, worth a visit

8 May 2012 11:28

The Freemasons Arms, Hampstead

beer garden is beautiful in the summer and that is about the only positive this place has to offer.

if you are looking to go somewhere for a meal, look elsewhere. other comments are right - service is terrible. kitchen cant cope, quality of food is poor considering the prices they charge.

great for a sunny sunday afternoon sitting in the beer garden as long as you have someone else willing to go to the bar and wait 10 mins to be served a couple of beers!

shame, as has so much potential and fails to deliver, big time

8 May 2012 11:26

The Barley Mow, Mayfair

top, top place for a pint and lunch. do a great fish finger sandwitch and the beer is good and not too expensive (it is in town after all!)

regular haunt for me and my colleagues. staff friendly, upstairs dining room relaxed and easy to enjoy a nice lunch without too much interuptions.

downstairs more lively but atmosphere always good.

def one to see, a must visit

8 May 2012 11:17

The Babble, Mayfair

trendy place, expensive drinks, not enough room to stand in when busy so all in all a typical central london bar/club.

downstairs music is good and atmosphere relaxed but upstairs, due to the lack of room to move, some people can get a bit aggressive.

one to go to after beeing somewhere else and turning up for a drink fulled dance downstairs.

8 May 2012 11:15

The Running Horse, Mayfair

good for a couple of pints after work and that is about it. not a place to spend the evening. beer is good and good selection of wines, but only for a couple and then to move on

8 May 2012 11:13

Bonds, Mayfair

considering the area and the type of place it is, it aint too bad!

we go in there for lunch at least once a month and the food is good (although a tad on the expensive side, what can you expect for the area?!) beer is also good.

atmosphere is relaxed and friendly but can get a bit lively as the beer flows!

overall, good place and worth a visit

8 May 2012 11:11

The Bodhran Bar, Hendon

if you aint a regular, give this one a miss.

you walk in the door and feel like its one of those westerns when everyone stops talking and turns to look at you.

staff friendly enough and beer ok but dont do food and apparently dont do randomers that well either!

better places to drink in Hendon if you are passing throguh the area

8 May 2012 09:35

The Chequers, Hendon

smells of cat piss due to the landlady keeping 3 cats who treat the pub like their toilet. like cats, hate the smell of their urine.

beer is rubbish and staff are none too friendly.

one to be avoided

8 May 2012 09:32

The Sir Richard Steele, Belsize Park

Went there this weekend for a bank holiday session and was not disapointed. there was a live band playing (they were ok but could have done with a better lead singer!). found the atmosphere to be lively and friendly (some menacing looking people but the type that just look menacing and are actually really harmless!). the decor is trendy and the seating is comfortable. beer is ok + didnt try the food.

all in all, good pub experience and one that i would happily go back to.
