Noisy and brash but little in the way of alternatives in this neck of the woods.

Standard suburban boozer with back to back bars. A quite oasis compared to the "zoo" that St Johns Road has become at the weekend. Handy for bookie, haircut, Chinese etc...

Used to drink here years ago when it was the "local" for the Govt Buildings at Broomhouse (except for those brave enough to go to the Gauntlet). Surprised it was still open - looks like it always did i.e. like a giant "pill box" without the machine guns (to think it once boasted a cocktail bar).

The Railway Inn, Juniper Green
Pub appears to have changed hands but little else has changed apart from a lick of paint and a name change (think it is now the Juniper Inn). Unremarkable local but okay if you are passing.

Full of pissed bairns with a bad attitude. Distinct smell of puke also. Avoid.

The Leadburn Inn, Leadburn
There are rumours that the Leadburn is to be rebuilt but no sign of any activity last time i passed.
