The Saucy Kettle, Surbiton

A wide selection of beer. Nicely done out apart from the gross American Neon. Get the bouncers off the door and all is good in my opinion. It's also got the sport. I don't actually watch much in the way of sport but they have it on and it's not in your face. Can imagine it's good for parties. Just one thing get some better live music and I'll come back more often.

Rubicon Bar, Surbiton

Yes, okay they only serve two beers. BUT, it's beer you can't get anywhere else. It's actually different. Sometimes when I go to a pub I look around and see the same old boring, bland stuff. I will umm and arr until I finally rest on choosing either a weak lager or popular ale or guiness. Come in here and you can go oh! haven't tried that, I'll have a pint. Won't do cocktails though - do nothing for me at all - except for one time in Mexico but that's a long story. As for the interior, well it's a bar not a pub. And it looks like.... well a bar!

Gordon Bennnett bar + kitchen, Surbiton

Got served by pleasant staff and had a burger. Pretty much the same type of burger I've had from any other place that are trying to do burgers but a bit different - with one exeption. Plays music from an iPod - done years ago. Small, not exactly inspiring or different in terms of being modern. Does pull in a vast number of people - I wonder if they are all from the same family. Good luck to Gordon Bennett and thankyou for being something different and not a tired, old, dirty pub. One comment the beers are different - something for everyone but my girlfriends wine was a bit off.

Duke of York, Surbiton

I'm sorry but The Saucy Kettle or any pub for that matter is better than here. Beers are nothing to write home about.... or anything for that matter. I actually came out feeling depressed. Is that possible or is it just me. It's a shame because it is in a very good location on the high street.

The Antelope, Surbiton

Nice and small and some pleasant ales if thats what you're into. Clean and well managed. Will come again, but when you see it sandwiched between two trendier places like GB and Rubicon you will notice that they are usually a lot busier. It is a fact nowadays that tired old boozers serving lots and lots of ale isn't what people want nowadays. But then everyones different and want different things.

The Black Lion, Surbiton

Old man's pub and nothing else. If you like spor, a non inspiring bar and pissing in a filthy toilet then go here. I'm sure it's regulars like it that way - but I'm afraid it's the sort of place that you could leave for a couple of years to travel or live a fulfilling life somewhere else, and then come back here to find the same old tired thing. Depressing.
