getting itself ready for the big change to no smoking by moving the sofas to near the front windows but in doing so has spoiled the best part of the pub, which was sitting on one of the stools by the window.

Blue Bell, Washington

a nice pub, good food and beer is fine. Clean and tidy surroundings.

The Bird Inn, Concord

great pub, the best pub in Concord. The beer is well-kept, the pub is always tidy and the regulars are always entertaining!

Oasis, Washington

handy location for a pub, but I've yet to have a decent pint in this pub. I have to stick to bottled beer as the draught beer tastes awful. If the management could sort that problem out I would use this pub more often when I'm doing my shopping.

The Railway, Greenford

to be fair, it was midweek when I visited the pub, so it's not really possible to say how it is these days at a weekend. It used to be full of couples at one time, though this was back in 1986! From reading all the other reviews it does seem to have gone downhill, which is sad as it was in this pub that I met my wife!

In fact, that part of Greenford as a whole seems to have gone downhill in the intervening years, which is also quite sad. I enjoyed living here back in the day, but wouldn't really want to now.

not bad, but a little uninspiring. The most enjoyable part of this pub is going to the toilets, they are stuck in the back of beyond, and past where people are eating. I've seen a few people not make it to the toilets in time and deliver quicker service than the kitchen staff...

a year on... the pub is full of alcoholics on a morning, so the best time to avoid is then. It's still pretty much your run-of-the-mill pub, but made slightly worse by the new drinking hours.

If you want to see people gasping for a pint, walk by the pub 10 minutes before opening time. The tongues are hanging out, the wallets are in hand, and the pub is quite happy to take the money. Come 2pm the staff are kicking them all out.

It's so sad.

The Ladbroke Arms, Notting Hill

After my disappointing visit last year, I thought I would give it another go. Hmmm... not bad, I went at the right time this time. There were no suits in the place and it was more enjoyable. It reminded me more of the pub it used to be.

I might visit it again next year!

The Willesden Junction Hotel, Harlesden

I used to drink here years ago and always walked out drunk. I was there a few weeks ago, and walked out drunk again. Yay! It's good to see nothing changes!

Black Horse, North Greenford

Not bad, quite quiet when I was there, but it was midweek. The guy on the bar seemed bored, but you can't blame him.

The Railway, Greenford

I recently visited this pub for the first time in 20 years, and found it pretty much the same. A good pub to go to for a couple before moving on somewhere else. The beer was fine, and the people in the bar were friendly.

The Coliseum, Harlesden

As Wetherspoons go, it's not too bad.

The added attraction is watching the police cars zooming by, Harlesden being a less than quiet place to be. If the police are heading towards Stonebridge you know the area is probably about to make the evening news...

The Mitre, Holland Park

I remember this pub as the Raj. Not too bad, a tad expensive though but pleasant enough.

The Ladbroke Arms, Notting Hill

I was very disappointed the last time I visited this pub. During my time in W11 in the 80s this was a great little pub, you could relax over a nice pint and it had a good "local" atmosphere many pubs in London lack. Now it's upmarket but bland and boring and not a place I'd want to revisit. What a let down.

The Old Swan, Notting Hill

I must pay this pub a visit next time I'm in London. I used to drink here regularly back in the mid to late 80s. Very good pub with a great atmosphere. I'm sure this was the pub that had the guy that would appear from nowhere at chucking out time, shout something like "in the corners, by the bar, by the door, see your drinks off" and then start to take them off people. Literally. I was there the night drinking up time extended to 20 minutes in 1988 and no-one bothered to tell the bloke. He caused a near riot when he began his "removal" routine that night!

as said, run of the mill pub. The staff are friendly, but the pub is very uninspiring. Cheap beer makes up for it, I suppose!
