After a very disappointing visit to the Three Horseshoes (next to the Nissan car plant and not listed on here), the Sir William de Wessyngton was a welcome retreat. It's a typical branch of Wetherspoons in the Concord area of Washington. Beers were Mordue A'L Cherry Pet, Sonnet 43 Brown Ale, Black Paw Bishop's Best & Paw's Gold, Houston APA, Roosters Maypole, Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best. Unusual for a Wetherspoons, they had 2 perries on - Westons Country Perry and the lesser spotted Gwynt y Ddraig Welsh Gold. Didn't look too welcoming from the outside. But the welcome was warmer within.

This was a great pub great manager and friendly staff. What has happened ? Its seems to be run by a bunch of girls at the moment . I believe there is a lady stand in , she walks around with a face like vinegar not interested in her customers . At least 6 of 10 beers off a couple of Fridays ago , looks like no-one knows how to change barrell. Come on spoons bring us back our smooth running friendly pub , . My wife wont step foot in there now , full of chavv's .

getting itself ready for the big change to no smoking by moving the sofas to near the front windows but in doing so has spoiled the best part of the pub, which was sitting on one of the stools by the window.

a year on... the pub is full of alcoholics on a morning, so the best time to avoid is then. It's still pretty much your run-of-the-mill pub, but made slightly worse by the new drinking hours.

If you want to see people gasping for a pint, walk by the pub 10 minutes before opening time. The tongues are hanging out, the wallets are in hand, and the pub is quite happy to take the money. Come 2pm the staff are kicking them all out.

It's so sad.

as said, run of the mill pub. The staff are friendly, but the pub is very uninspiring. Cheap beer makes up for it, I suppose!
