The Sportsman 'Time Well Spent', Mogador

Yes indeed the food here is expensive however the choice is massive and the quality is absolutly superb.
I think some complain becuase they think this is a normal coyntry pub and are surprised by the cost if the small restuarant. However this is not a normal country pub restuarant at all.
Good choice of wines and ales too.
The Sportsman is best though of as a nice country pub with a small yet very high quality restuarant.
I would view eating out at the Sportmans as a special occasion not a normal pub grub place.
Full marks for this place.

The Assembly Rooms, Epsom

Crappy Weatherspoons pub.
Had had a big re-furb, but I found it to be dirty with sticky unwashed tables and torn chairs / stools.
Full of rough chavs too.
Shame as it is a nice big old building with a lot of history (was the original Epsom Spar house.

Go to the Marquis of Grandby across the road. Much better!

The Amato, Epsom

I'm an Epsom local and this is one of the best pubs around.
Not a chain / corporate pub.
Good old fashioned pub with good ales and beers and quite good food too.
Kids allowed in the large beer garden (they do childrens food portions) on Sat and Sun, but keep them entertained as the locals don't like your kids running too wild!
Famous Derby day pub - they do a champaigne breakfast on Derby day and the Gypsies have a tradition of placing the name of the predictided winning horse of the Derby over the Well outside.

Worplesdon Place Hotel, Worplesdon

This is a child friendly pub.
The very large beer garden has an mini adventure playground at one end so it is great for sitting outside and watching the kids play whilst eating, drinking, and chatting with your friends.
No ball games though!
Recommended for parents with young kids.
Note: there is a deep lake there too so you need to keep a eye on where your child is!

The Plough, Sparsholt

Dreadful customer service and v average food.
Avoid this pub!
I reserved two tables at this pub for a company team lunch, about 25 people in total generating about 280 worth of business for them.
20 of us turned up at 13:50 on a Thursday and were served. Unfortunately 5 of us (myself included) got lost and turned up at 14:05 and were refused food as they said their kitchen shuts at 14:00 prompt, even though we could see hot dishses comming out for other customers. With that many of us giving that much money (I footed the bill) you would think they would have been a bit more customer service focused.
Those that got their food said that is was very average. These people need to invest in some people skills if they want customers to return.
Their Murpheys was bod too.
Avoid this place at all costs!
