The White Hart, Basingstoke

Greetings Beer Drinkers!
I no longer live in Basingstoke, so have not had the opportunity to visit the White Hart since it got took over - But I can say as a loyal Castle drinker for the past 9 years, I know this family to be the best there is in this crazy Pub game!

I'd like to wish Greg, Ange and family the best of luck with the new venture and i'll be coming for a visit very soon - I can't wait to see what you have done with the place xx

Glass House, St Helens

i dont mind it for the cheap food and stuff (you knwo the script with these places, been in one, been in them all)

I just wish there wasnt so much crap on the floor (food, mayo sachets etc) and i wish theyd wipe the bar and tables down!!! its not about standards, its about getting the basics right!!

The Counting House, St Helens

without a doubt the best pub asthetically in st helens, i like the smoking area too - it shoudl be a hell of a lot busier though, so they must be doing something wrong! unless people who remember it when it was the forum and they now assume that they are 15 years too old to be there!?!?

it would be nice to see this place do well though

The Coach & Horses, Ashbourne

One of my favourite pubs in Ashbourne, Big on Shrovetide, and decent landlord (he doesn't take any shit and he's quite sweet)

13 Mar 2008 15:24

The Skewers, Basingstoke

i like their beer garden :-)

13 Mar 2008 15:22

The Maidenhead Inn, Basingstoke

ive been in worse, but at the end of the day, its just a weatherspoons (i did like the cosy downstairs smoking bit - remember those days?)

13 Mar 2008 14:58

Lloyds No 1, Basingstoke

oi barstaff!! stop being so miserable and wipe the fking bar down!!

this pub is awful, it's like being at an airport pub, without the excitement of a pending holiday.

13 Mar 2008 14:39

13 Mar 2008 13:58

The Huntsman, Haydock

Jaxx Cafe Bar, St Helens

they now have a lapdancing bar upstairs and there was total uproar over it!!!!! god knows why!

"every married woman should object to this"

or should it read "every inscure married woman shoudl object to this" ??

13 Mar 2008 13:50

The Turks Head, St Helens

I really don't see what the fuss is about to be honest. It takes a lifetime to get served and there's never anywhere to sit (ok, yes because its booming with customers)

i guess its better than the cowley tho(although that place would score higher if it went back to being called the Anfield)

also, has anyone else thought of the nickname turtle's head?? thats genious!

13 Mar 2008 13:44

The Castle, Basingstoke

hi quinno, i would give it another go if i were you! i absolutley love this place, its the only thing i miss about not being in basingstoke anymore!

11 Feb 2008 12:50

The Bullion, St Helens

yeh!! i miss those days!!!

6 Feb 2008 10:57

Rhu Bar, Basingstoke

ive never liked the rhu bar - reagrdless of whether rob bates was misquoted or not. Its too small, i get fed up of having to wee in the gents, waiting an eternity at the bar and im fed up with the ridiculous footwear policy on the door.(that means, the policy is ridiculous, not that you have to wear clown shoes or something..although that would be quite amusing.) ive never had great service there and frankly its a little clicky.

The protest was amusing though.. we watched it from yates window!

try the light lounge! its nice and spacious!!!

25 Jun 2007 16:41

The Crown, Old Basing

The Swan Inn, Liverpool

way way back in 1996 - we started my sisters hen night here (shes a bit of a rock chick and to be fair there were more blokes than girls on the actual hen night) i had teh best time ever, and more importantly so did my sister - whatever were were drinking certainly worked! after going there and a few other places we decided to go for a meal and play frisbee with some king prawns - good times! :-)

27 Dec 2006 15:05

The Everyman Bistro, Liverpool

love the food love the atmosphere - love everything about it!

27 Dec 2006 15:01

Bar Ca Va, Liverpool

Best bar in Liverpool easily!! nice and chilled - love the decor with the old posters, love the sofas, love the fact that you just get left to it and am learning to love jeagermister and red bull....

27 Dec 2006 15:00

The Brasserie Chalon, St Helens

i cant believe this hasn't been mentioned yet....legend has it that this place was once called the swinging tit, this is allegedly because: the bar staff were topless and for an extra pound they would dip a nipple in your pint...i have no idea if Dave Burgess carried on that tradition when he took over - ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD???

27 Dec 2006 14:57

Flex 2, St Helens

is this place still going???? brilliant!!!!

27 Dec 2006 14:55

The Sportsmans Inn, St Helens

this was always known as the place to get served if you wern't actually old enough to drink (mainly because it was opposite loweis) I have no idea if this is still the case, as lowies is no more - and obviously now im 26 its been a good 10 years since ive ventured in there!

27 Dec 2006 14:53

Gerard Arms, Dentons Green

Any ex De La Salle or Carmel student will love this place - top boozer!!!!

27 Dec 2006 14:49

The Huntsman, Haydock

Come and see Britains laziest man (not) at work!

27 Dec 2006 14:48

The Bottle and Glass, Rainford

it's a chef and brewer - so it looks the same as any other - if you like the food you'll be laughing - thats a polite a way as any of saying - I dont!

27 Dec 2006 14:47

The Orange House, St Helens

I know it's shut - I just wish someone would buy it and make it Lowies again! If I could afford the 500k those money grabbing fks at Luminar wanted - I bloody would!!!!

27 Dec 2006 14:45

The Chicago Rock Cafe, Basingstoke

ahh but your customer relation skills remain unchanged! the whole point of a forum like this is people are free to express their views, all that stuff happened, but rather than say "well sorry about that, things have changed, why not give it another try?" you take the offensive!

good luck with the venture!
hugs and kisses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

24 Aug 2006 12:44

The Royal Oak, Basingstoke

Don't Bother!!!! Bad service, bad attitude and bad company!!!

24 Aug 2006 12:37

The Bakers, Basingstoke

staff never wipe the bar down so u get covered in other peoples beer. we ordered some food once during the day, it was rank, we were asked if our food was ok, when we said no the manger came up to us, squared up to my boyfriend and asked us what we were gonna do about it! rather than slap him, or give him a wedgie, we just decided not to drink there again!

21 Aug 2006 15:24

Laarsens, Basingstoke

Used to have a good atmoshere, on girly nights we always started here, but its gone a bit downhill. staff have all got a face like thunder - you dont wanna see that on a friday night!! (apart from adam) what every happened to Nicky, Claire and the lovely leah - Bring them back and the place might get a bit busier!!!

21 Aug 2006 14:58

The Bass House, Basingstoke

yeh, fond memories of putting my laptop and phone on do not disturb at work and spending the afternoon playing pool there, a place like that would be that last place my boss would have looked! thank you Bass house! and thank you IBM!!!

21 Aug 2006 14:55

Queens College Arms, Tadley

5 points for the food, i thought the service was a bit crap,or waiter or whatever he wants to call himself, couldnt carry plates and was a bit cocky, none of the tables outside were clean either, food was lovely though!

i know you beer expert are probably chuffed at the HB and real ales on offer, but sometimes u just want a pint of carlesberg!

also there was a massive woman in hot pants sitting with her legs open in the garden..that shoudln't be allowed surely!?

21 Aug 2006 14:52

The Fox, Ellisfield

Love the food here! but landlord is a bit scary...mind u i hear ellisfield is riddled with swingers...

21 Aug 2006 14:46

McCarthys Bar, Basingstoke

grab a pint, light a fag, sit at the bar and people watch.....oh my god you see some sights in there! i'm a particular fan of, crazy guns n roses lady (stick it on the juke box and watch her head bang!) token irish man (well now it can be called and irish bar can't it?) and jeremy clarkson lookalike!

21 Aug 2006 14:43

The Beacon, South Ham

I've been in there once - went to the juke box and some p'd up bloke was leanining against it "excuse me, have you finished" "yeh go ahead"

I go to put a pound in it and said p'd up bloke grabs my arm, pins me against the wall, and goes ape sh*t at me because he wanted Shania Twain on there.

I think that says it all.....

21 Aug 2006 14:38

The George, Basingstoke

Clsong this place was the worst thing that could have possibly happened to the town centre.

18 Aug 2006 15:54

The Popinjay, Basingstoke

nowhere near as scary as you might think! Friendly staff and locals and a great selection of drinks, even if they don't stock it they will probably order it in for you!

18 Aug 2006 15:51

The Castle, Basingstoke

yeh its pricey, but if you work in Town its the only place to be at 5pm on a friday - the food is brilliant and Greg is a top bloke! Ihave fond memories of this place!
