Wether it"s a fiddle or not lets be honest, the place is a bleeding death trap! people always say why does"nt he do the place up,but it"s always packed at the weekends so why shoud he everyone seems to put up with it? mind you the screw that takes the place of the door handle on the gents keeps falling out so a minor alteration there please!
Anyway sorry to hear about the short changing incident never a nice thing to happen and especially when you don"t get a decent answer from manager.

I have been going to the Rhu Bar for years, pretty much since it opened but aftr last night I wont be returning and guess I will be another of the many customers Rob Bates has lost in recent months.

I was short changed by the barmaid last night to the tune of 10.00. I complained to the barmaid who reply was "I dont make mistakes". I asked for the manager and was told she didnt know where he was which is not exactly a customer friendly and helpful attitude. Whils insisting on speaking to the manager and being given the same response (as above, Rob Bates appears. I told him what ha happened only to be given the same response - "my wife doesnt make mistakes"
All he was prepared to do was check the takings when he cashes up (whenever that might be is anyones guess).
I told my wife what had happened and she then informed me that the same thing has happened to TWO people she works with.
It seems Mr Bates and his wife have a very nice racket going on at the Rhu Bar.

The last comment made me laugh,... I think they should bring in a ridiculous shoe policy, would really brighten up the night,...

Any way, I don't like this place at all, dark dingy why anyone would want to go there is a mystery to me?????

ive never liked the rhu bar - reagrdless of whether rob bates was misquoted or not. Its too small, i get fed up of having to wee in the gents, waiting an eternity at the bar and im fed up with the ridiculous footwear policy on the door.(that means, the policy is ridiculous, not that you have to wear clown shoes or something..although that would be quite amusing.) ive never had great service there and frankly its a little clicky.

The protest was amusing though.. we watched it from yates window!

try the light lounge! its nice and spacious!!!

I have also read the comments in the Basingstoke Observer, and totally disagree with Rob Bates comments......I know a good few people which including myself) will never set foot in this place again over this. Makes it sound like a lovely place................
