Walkabout, Shaftesbury Avenue

went here last night at about 1am and it was very busy. however the dance floor was covered in glass, and i waited 20 minutes at the bar to get a drink once i had tiptoed my way across all the glass to get there. i found it dingy and dark, and although the music was quite good and VERY loud i didnt really enjoy myself. it seemed to be full of teenagers very drunk on cheap snakebites. there are many more places in central london that are open until late and are much better, cleaner and freindlier!

The Anchor, Tewkesbury

have heard lots of things about the food being really great here, although have never eaten here myself. drinks are good, and the staff are generally nice and chatty. despite being a small place its still a good place to go for a friday/saturday before moving on as it gets busy and there is a good atmosphere. there is a mixture of ages, and occasional entertainment. worth visiting.

Bull, Broxbourne

its a nice place to sit outside in the summer with a pint and some friends as the front beer garden is a greaat sun-trap! however the pub is quite darkly decorated inside which is a shame. a mixture of ages drink here, but mostly youngsters. i havent ever eaten here, but the beer is good and reccommended. one of the better places in the area.

The Standard Bearer, Stevenage

i like the decor of this pub and on the several occasions i have been there i have found the staff to be really helpful and friendly. they actually seem to be happy to be at work! as with most weatherspoons pubs it can get really busy, but the queue at the bar is worth the wait as the prices are very low! i dont really like going out in the evening in stevenage really, but this place is okay. its a nice pub to meet up with mates and have a chat over a few cheap beers.

The William Aylmer, Harlow

a typical weatherspoons pub offering very cheap drinks and food (woohoo). the pub itself i have visited on a few occasions throughout the day and in the evening and have always found it to be a bit messy. not dirty, but ashtrays need emptying and beer spillages wiped up. i do understand that its a busy place and the barstaff have hectic shifts but it could do with a clean. the toilets are spotless though and absolutely massive (well at least the ladies, i cant say i have visited the mens). i am not a huge fan of weatherspoons pubs in general because i like to have music in a pub, but this one is okay to have a few drinks in before going on somewhere else, if only for the low prices.

The Albion Inn, Tewkesbury

this is a caberet bar that has acts on most nights of the week. its thursday nights are the best and they often have tribute acts like tom jones, tina turner and madonna. all ages seem to drink there, but its more popular with slightly older people. it can get really busy so if want a seat then you have to get here early. is quite dark inside and quite small but does have a good fun atmosphere.

Montells, Tewkesbury

i havent been to here for a little while, but on my last visit the place was full of locals who only go there for a late drink. its not a place i would chose to drink in, although if you want to have a dance and carry on drinking into the early hours then this is about the only place in tewkesbury that you can! have heard many rumors of it being bought by a chain, but i have no idea if it is true.

The Nottingham Arms, Tewkesbury

a nice little pub, but can get very busy! lovely building, good drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. definately worth a visit.

Ye Olde Black Bear, Tewkesbury

one of the best pubs in tewkesbury. not only is it a beautiful building but the staff are friendly and competant creating a lovely atmosphere. can get really busy especially on a friday and saturday with people of all ages having a good time, but you can get a seat on most other days. i used to go to the quiz here on a sunday most weeks, but i dont know if that is still running. the beer garden is nice and is fantastic in the summer over looking the river. if you only visit one pub in tewkesbury make it this one.

King Johns Tavern, Tewkesbury

i visited this pub last thursday and was greeted by friendly bar staff who and very loud music. not a bad pub, usually full of 16-24 year olds who pop in here for a few drinks before moving on elsewhere in tewkesbury or into cheltenham. not too keen on the orange/silver decor and blue chairs but its confortable enough. its nice in the summer when the windows are open and there are geat views of the river. worth a visit.

The Moon Under Water, Cheltenham

pretty average really. a typical wetherspoons pub which could easily be missed off a pub crawl of cheltenham, as there are many better places. the good points are the prices and the location but these are sadly outweighed by the bad points.

The Sailsbury Arms, Hoddesdon

this pub is full of the local youngsters. not a bad atmosphere and gets quite busy on friday and saturday nights. there are much better places closeby to go for a drink that are not full of pissed/stoned teenagers. could do with a bit of a clean too.

The Navigator, Ware

nice pub, never seen it REALLY busy. quite often full of students from the nearby college. prices are cheap (probably the cheapest in ware) but it is a bit of a locals place.

Bunker, Covent Garden

i go here ofetn during the day for a chill out. the beer is really great, the staff are helpful (and cute) and i have never had trouble finding a seat. a nice place to get away from the mayhem of covent garden if you need a break!

The White Swan, Hoddesdon

really friendly bar staff, a relaxed atmosphere and good beer. what more can you ask for? reccomended for anyone that wants a quiet drink and a chat with frinds.

Yates's, Leicester Square

last night was the second time i have been here and the second time that i have had a great night. its always busy, the people are very friendly and the atmosphere was brilliant. after getting over the initial surprise of the amount of people wanting to dance with me (or grope me) i had a great night, although it would have been even better if the drinks had been cheaper! just be warned ladies, you do have to fight the men off here, although i will be visiting again soon........

Oxygen, Leicester Square

went here last night (friday) and was quite busy, the staff and doormen were very friendly and the atmousphere was good. i am not a fan of the gothic decor, especially downstairs in the club area, but the dancefloor was well ventilated and the music was pretty good. good to stop off here for a couple before moving elsewhere.
