The Tudor Arms, Slimbridge

Had a pub meal here, reasonably priced, and friendly, helpful staff to go with it. There is plenty of room inside, and it's in a brilliant position, next to the canal. Sadly recently stopped allowing dogs. However, good beer from Wye Valley, Uley and Wadworths. Conveniently close to the Wildfowl and Wetlands trust.

The Crown and Sceptre, Stroud

Interesting community free house boozer. An eclectic mix of framed prints and posters fill the walls. Decent beer including Stroud Budding and Uley. Also guest ales from Blue Anchor. Terrace has great views of Stroud.

15th century pub, small and low beamed single roomed affair. Proved to be a little haven for good ale, range of up to six beers including Sharp's Doom Bar, Stonehouse Station Bitter, Three Tuns Stout and Timothy Taylor Landlord. Good condition. Friendly service.

The Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury

Traditional back street local, with a large decked area facing out over the bowling green. Hosts two beer festivals each year, the Winter Ales Festival in February and another Festival in May. Shrewsbury Town FC memorabilia adorn the building both inside and out. A free house, the beers including Greene King IPA, Salopian Golden Thread, St Austell Tribute and Thwaites Wainwright. Decent service as well.

The Woodman, Shrewsbury

Night out in Shrewsbury, using BITE recommended pubs. The Woodman on Coton Hill, is a 1920s pub, believed to be haunted, with full oak panelled lounge, with two log fires and traditional settles. The separate bar has the stone-tiled flooring, wooden seating, log fire and leaded windows. Theres also a courtyard seating area. Ales incude Salopian Shropshire Gold and Oracle, plus Wye Valley Butty Bach.

The Bakers Arms, Orleton

We called here on the way back to Hereford. Found the place a bit soulless. Beer was OK but the service from the guy behind the bar was poor.

The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow

Relaxing comfortable atmosphere. Beer really good. Boiling Well (Ludlow Brewing Co) excellent. Good service. Would recommend.

The Unicorn Inn, Ludlow

Nice atmosphere, more like an old village pub. Beer decent. Worth the extra walk down the hill, but remember you've got to come back up!

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Good selection of ale from the area and beyond. Service wasn't great, and for an ale pub beer was served flat and lifeless. Earlier posts about the decor/cleanliness are unfortunately true. Sadly not what it was.

The Queens, Ludlow

Nice pint of Hobsons Best. Mixed customer base of locals/tourists. Friendly barmaid Kim. Would recommend including the Queens on a tour of the better pubs.

The Barrels, Hereford

Still a favourite. One of the best pints in the area.

The Lichfield Vaults, Hereford

Called in for lunch. Heineken pub. Beer good. Adnams and Caledonian excellent. Menu is very Greek inspired, decent enough food, but a little pricey for the portion offered. Excellent service from Andy the manager.

The Dragon Hotel, Hereford

Poor ale, terrible service. Wouldn't bother again!

The Woodcolliers Arms, Bewdley

character pub with beams and fireplace. Dog friendly and popular with walkers. Found good ale and enjoyable food.

The Mug House Inn, Bewdley

situated by the river, a nice dog friendly pub that seems to attract a mix of tourists and locals. Decent line up of ale. Nice glass covered patio.
