Live and Let Live, Neen Sollars

Amazing & lovingly decorated pub with fantastic beer and even better food set in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside.

They do the best chips in the country, which coming from somebody who spent 5 years in Belgium is very high praise indeed! We went for an evening meal and all of the food was just delicious, the deserts are all made in-house and are out of this world.

10 out of 10 A+, A* and I solemnly swear I have no relation whatsoever with the landlord or his family.

PS. It is advisable to call them as their opening times can vary, I think they opened at 7pm when we went.

The Harbour Inn, Bewdley

We came upon this pub by accident, when we got off in Arley instead of Highley where our friends live. As we were on the last steam train and we're both on T-Mobile, none of our phones worked and we were totally stranded in Arley (which has one phone box which broke down in the last millenium, judging by the amount of dust and spider webs).
The Harbour Inn is a beautifully located pub with a great beer garden and has a wonderfully gay landlord who looked very worried when we ordered 2 milky coffees. Considering the sophisticated coffee machine behind the bar, he probably wondered how to get a sneaky look at the manual without loosing credibility. He decided against it and the result was of a dark brown muddy appearance which had to be decanted into a larger mug and watered down liberally with milk and sweetened with a lot of sugar to be drinkable.
The advice I would give to prospective visitors is this, stick to the beer and make sure your phone is fully charged and your network works as the pub does not have a telephone, or so we have been told.

Ryans Bar, Derby

Fantastic Irish pub, thoroughly recommended for too many reasons to list here.

The Old Silk Mill, Derby

Used to be a great place for food and drink until it changed hands. Lets hope a new landlord is found quickly and that s/he reinstates the gloriously gorgeous Mvenpick ice cream!

Jonty Farmer, Derby

A "plastic chain pub" which does however have a great heated smoking area where you can sit down.

The Standing Order, Derby

Probably the most beautiful pub in Derby with great drinks offers. The food however has been degraded from well-prepared and plentiful pub food in the late 90s/early noughties to loveless, standardised & microwaved fare. The portions have shrunk to half not even filling up a light-weight like me. The food is edible, but don't expect any fireworks.
