The Mermaid, St Albans

Is this a gay pub? It's certainly very macho and I was made to feel very unwelcome.

The Goat, St Albans

OMG who on earth is the brainless blonde woman who now seems to be running the Goat!????? She really has no clue about looking after customers, knowing what drinks are behind the bar, or even knowing how to serve a drink without smashing the glass the smithereens!!!! I could do better than this! This pub is descending into Hell!!!

The Gate, Arkley

This pub has got 7.9 and been rated by more than 25 people, so why isn't it in the Top 40?

The White Swan, St Albans

The new managers have definitely got a grip on the place, and it's more fun now and positive.

Sweaty lads' pub. Not very comfortable.

The Blacksmiths Arms, St Albans

Oh wow, so much better than it used to be! The marking of 5.2 is way out of date.

The White Lion, St Albans

OOh why did i say it was a 3-legged cat? I must have been a bit tipsy and gone cross eyed. Whoops!

The Farmers Boy, St Albans

The Autumn Fall Pie, priced on the menu at a very reasonable 350, must be absolutely scrummy! This is quite a nice pub; Doug and Ros are sociable and make you feel welcome.

The White Lion, St Albans

All the positive comments below about this pub are spot on. An added attraction here is the 3-legged cat, to accompany the legless drinkers!

Still getting better and now doing jazz on Sunday afternoons.

The Queens Head, Sandridge

The interior is a bit gloomy, but the service is good and so are the drinks and food.

The Lower Red Lion, St Albans

I felt a bit guilty cos there was a man already on the opposite bar waiting to be served, but as soon as the large bar guy saw me, he came over and served me. He'd been talking to a mate about football, and since there were quite a few used glasses lying round the pub uncollected I felt that this pub is quite poorly run, or at least on my visit.

The Rose and Crown, Sandridge

Ooh, what's happened here? While the 2 nearby pubs were buzzing, this one was gloomy, hardly any customers, and the barlady had a bit of a barney with a bloke about moving some furniture.

The Green Man, Sandridge

I like the nice young barman!

The Boot, St Albans

The floor was varnished today. As a woman, I care about these things! Y viva El Booto!

The Portland Arms, St Albans

A small group of us girlies visited this pub one evening last week. My first impression was that it was a bit dull and "blokeish". But the lovely Henry really knows how to run a pub and make people feel welcome. And then when the food appeared ...!!!! Yum, yum, and again I say yum!!!! So much for my diet. But the whole visit was very nice and I would recommend this pub to anybody.

The Lord Nelson, Brighton

There's a GORGEOUS barman who works here most afternoons. Dark hair, and wears his trousers low on his hips so that his boxers show. Darling, you're wonderful!
The pubs's not bad either.

Love it! Nothing bad to say about this pub at all.

The Six Bells, St Albans

Lovely food, a good selection of drinks and friendly people. I can't think of a more welcoming pub in Herts.
