The Pier View, Cowes

Enlarged last year, best yachtie pub in Cowes, but can be too lively. Decent food, good pub.

The New Inn, Shalfleet

May 2008 visit - Our 1st visit, picturesque/historic olde worlde type pub, dogs allowed, no wifi. Fairly empty the wednesday eve we visited so lacked atmosphere. Manager/host seemed absent, very young staff were helpful. Sadly the reputation for great food wasn't upheld, the fancy menu looks inviting but perhaps too complex for basic pub kitchen staff. I'd go back, but not to eat.

The Orange Brewery, Belgravia

A few years ago, before this pub chnaged hands, it had a good reputation for well-cooked simple food. Sadly, in 2008, it's declined to that redolent of school food ib the 70's. Yesterday a Sunday traditional roast beef course arrived grey & overcooked, with an assortment of roast & boiled potatoes, packet-flavour gravy & dried out yorkshire pudding. A beefburger course was equally dismal - cold, in non-too fresh baps. The chips & beer were ok, but nothing special.
