Sippers, Plymouth

Have not been in this pub for several years, and although i was not a regular whenever i used it i found the selection of beers plentiful and the welcome warm. This was not the case when i visited this week. Waiting for the ferry to france, myself and a friend wallked in, only to be confronted by a (seemingly) friendly bulldog. Dont have a problem with dogs at all, its just when i go onto a pub i expect to see people! We sat at the bar, waited, and waited, and waited- still no sign of anyone who worked there! we must have waited about 7/8 minutes before we walked out. We could hear noise coming from the kitchen, sounded like sonmeone was washing dishes, but no-one popped their head around. When we left, we saw the barman (an older man so i assume he is the landlord) outside having a fag break. Fine, i dont mind people smoking, its just that you should always keep an eye to the bar if your going to nip out!! We also were quite put off when the dog decided to pee all over the floor- i know that it's not the dog's fault but if it is apub dog the owners should be more responsible and consider letting it outside! Would nnot reccommend this pub at all. Toilets were dirty and did not smell good. It really saddens me to see pubs decline, but this one sadly has.

Jamaica Inn, Bolventor

went to this pub for lunch on a hot weekday, have never been there before and thought that a spot of lunch in the sun would be nice. we asked about food, and were suprised when we were told that the only option was carvery. This suprised me, as i thought they would have at least had something cold seeing as it was so hot! That said, the bar staff were friendly, and the beer was very welcome! would reccomend this pub, as it is a beautiful location and on a sunny day it cant get much better!

Jubilee Inn, Pelynt

I would just like to point out that I really did emjoy the food when i went to the jubilee, staff were great! I live in the local area and will always suggest it to anyone! But I say these things because that is my opinion, and i certainly did not post comments under a different name! All i will say, great pub, and please remember to respect others on this site!

The Blue Peter, Polperro

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You clearly have more than visitor's interest in this pub- perhaps a case of double standards?

Sorry Eddiew, but how can you just assume that comments are by local people, or ex staff? Everyone has off days, and maybe the comments below were from one of these days! I stand by my previous comments on this pub.

The Noughts and Crosses, Polperro

I dont think that the genrealisation that people from 'social housing' is fair or right in this case, as the clientelle of this pub is varied, and the vast majority of the people in there are not from the housing estate! That said, i agree that the smoking ban is a major catalyst in this issue, as the pub does not have anywhere for their customers to go other than on the street. Not that this is an excuse, and it does not excuse the behaviour of the customers.

Jubilee Inn, Pelynt

Went up here a few weeks ago for a birthday meal. The food was lovely (although be warned, the brie wedges are VERY big!) and the scallops were to die for. Staff were really friendly, wine list was very extensive. Didnt try the beer but it seemed to be going down well with the other customers! All of the areas are lovely and clean, this place is a proper pub, with very traditional decor. the only advice i would give to anyone is to tun up early if you want to eat, as it fills up very quickly, but i guess his speaks for itself! search it out.

The Crumplehorn Inn, Polperro

i believe the parking at the crupmplehorn is for residents, and not customers. i may be wrong on that one though.it does get very busy at mealtimes, and if the weather is not good it can be quite difficult to get a table sometimes as the outside seating cannot be used. but for the size of the place there is quite a lot of seating. When i went with my family one sunday, the landlord found us a table, and even asked if a couple would mind moving to a smaller table so that our party of five could be accomodated. As sunday seems to be one of their busiest lunchtimes i was pleased that we could get a table so quickly. and the new rattler pear cider is well worth it (although one too many may send you a bit squiffy!!!)

what a lovely place! very friendly staff, food was lovely (veggie lasagne was great!) and a lovely pint of rattler. vey quiet when we visited but we could not be made more welcome! keep it up, a lovely pub.

The Decker, East Looe

a nice place to drink, but i was not sure about the food. has a chicken ceaser salad, and the chicken tasted and had the texture of rubber, it was not nice at all. good prices, but the food it was a big let down for me. Cheap doesnt have to mean rubbish! having said that, still a nice pint and friendly people behind the bar. just needs to be sorted out and this place could be great.

The Three Pilchards, Polperro

just been taken over my new management. Menu and food looked nice, although had already eaten so did not try food on that occasion. Good selection of beers and other drinks. Good luck to the new landlady and landlord, this place has huge potential!

The Ship Inn, Polperro

beer was good, and staff were friendly. interior lets this pub down, as it is dark and tired. Menu is good, with big portions, but it has the feel of a canteen and it was not as good as could be expected. a good family pub, as it has a large family room and kids menu is quite large and at a reasonable price but the decor of the place is a let down

The Crumplehorn Inn, Polperro

a really nice pub, olde worlde and large seating area outside, which is great in the summer! staff are really friendly, and food is very nice. Only thing that i can comment on is that it is quite expensive, although their location seems to compensate for this,as they get a lot of custom! well worth a visit.

The Noughts and Crosses, Polperro

a nice pub, but the noise level does cause some concern. Due to the smoking ban, everyone stands outside the pub, which is fine during the day, but at night this becomes quite an issue. If they could get this problem sorted out it would be a great pub, but this does let it down.

The Blue Peter, Polperro

a nice pub with a good atmosphere and location.only thing that i found a bit dissapointing was the prices, as it seemed a bit expensive. But still worth a visit as the food is good and the staff are welcoming. (Handy hint- if going in to see music or watch sport, get there early if you want a seat!)

The Old Mill House Inn, Polperro

totally disagree with previous comments about this pub. I have visited the Millhouse several times and have always found the staff to be friendly, and the beer and food is great. Although it is off the beaten track, and therefore not easily found, once you find it, it is always worth a repeat visit! Great all round pub.
