The Crofton, Stubbington

This really is a gem. I've only been in 3 times in two years but the quality of the beer is excellent and the place itself always looks like it has had an army of cleaners in.

Saturday afternoon, very warm, lots of peope outside, some very large rounds being bought, 1 bar staff, 4 or 5 constantly queuing, pathetic

One of the worst Weatherspoons I have ever been in. Saturday afternoon very busy, two bars one person serving on each. I gave up after 10 minutes, shame because they had some interesting beers. Went to a lovely pub on a road off the other side iof the square and had two excellent pipes min very nice surroundings.

All thu usual things you don't like about Weatherspoons, big and cavernous, impersonal (but not impolite) service and the things that you do, like price. But you know what you are getting and the beer is in my opinion the best kept in Fareham. Usually 10 hand pumps many with beer I have never drunk before. I like to try new beers and I have never been let down you have to give them 10/10 for the quality of the beer. In nearly two years I have queried the quality of just one pint and that was immeditely changed with a polite apology. In general the beer is never less than perfect.
Long may they prosper.

The Wheatsheaf, Shedfield

One of the best pubs in this part of the world withou doubt. Fabulously kept beer. I have never had anything close to a pint that wasn't perfect. Beer prices are reasonable, as someone else has said I do feel stung by the soft drink prices

Black Dog Inn, Waltham Chase

Let's try a different pub for somewhere to eat I said. I wish I hadn't serious loss of brownie points. Less than 5 minutes after being served the food was on the table. It may come out of a microwave but I'd at least like the pretence that it had been cooked. 9.25 for each meal, on the high end for this type of pub grub but OK if the food is good and you get value for money. The portions were postively stingy, each main course probably cost less than 50p in ingrediants. My lasagne was accompanied by the smallest bowl of chips you have ever seen and we're not usually big eaters but there was just nothing there. .Not so much as a lettuce leaf accompanied. 10 minutes later we had finished and were still hungry. The food itself was OK and my pint of Green King IPA ws presentable but it's such an average pint to start with it's difficult to get wrong. I won't be going back.
