The Golden Rule, Ambleside

Been going to the Lakes for years now and this has to be one of the best. I really like the atmosphere here. It might seem a bit localsy but it's really friendly. Highly recommended. I like the fact that it isn't a food pub. All you'll get here is a bap and great beer

The Britannia Inn, Elterwater

Excellent pub but quite small so can be difficult to get a table. Good food as well. Very nice to sit outside when the weather's good

Wainwrights Inn, Great Langdale

Remember getting hazy on the Sneck Lifter here after a very wet local walk. A great memory of a decent pub

The Stickle Barn Tavern, Great Langdale

Pretty basic last time I went. Average for beer and food but can easily do worse

The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale

In my top 10 as well - excellent beers and great atmosphere. Agreed can be busy on summer weekends

The Metropolitan, Didsbury

A 9.5 rating! (before I added mine). OK not bad, but not that great. *Very* expensive boozer. Decent range of ales but a somewaht sterile young execs vibe to the place.

The Railway, Didsbury

Genuine enough place. Decent beers if you like the holts taste. The odd local star can be seen having a beer here from time to time. Good place to grab a pint before haeding to the excellent 'Great Katmandhu' nepalese restaurant across the road that many consider to be Manchester's best Indian food

The Fletcher Moss, Didsbury

The nearest pub to my house I think. Not as good as I was expecting given the CAMRA recommendation but a pleasant enough boozer. Decent qulaity ales though not one of my favourites. Still tend to go to the Dog and Partridge nearby.

The Forest Gate Inn, Epping

Quite possibly my favourite pub of all time. Great atmosphere and fantastic Ridleys ales. I have to say has lost a little of it's appeal since the passing of the old man but still great - you won't get much better than this.

The Dog and Partridge, Didsbury

Agreed probably the best pub in Didsbury. Worrying trend of having louder TV recently not great though. Has it's off nights.
