The Gallery, Pimlico

A decent boozer just a stones throw from Pimlico tube station. A varied selection of ales were available plus Leffe blond on draught. Theres a nice airy bar at the front and a nice upstairs area (not always open). The area past the bar lacks natural light. As I said an ok boozer but nothing special.

The The White Ferry, Victoria

Some 8 years since our last visit and thankfully things have changed for the better. Now owned by the Pub Love group. A good selection of ales on tap, sorry forgot to make a list, and over 20 bottled beers available. Very good burgers as well. Last and not least a far less threatening atmosphere. Its a bit out of the way but deserving of a visit.

The Royal Oak, Westminster

This pub has had its ups and downs over the past few years. At the moment its on an up. Always found this a very friendly pub and that is still the case. Decent beer and food and good banter with the people serving.

10 Jul 2015 14:23

The Sportsman, Amberley

An out of the way pub visited by locals, walkers and retirees. Sits overlooking the Arun Valley and its a magnificant view. Decent selection of ales and the food is excellent. A firm favourite with my wife. Accomodation is available. This pub isn't really child friendly because it doesn't really have the outside space. Plenty of other pubs in the area can. We've been coming here regularly for 4 years and that says it all.

17 Feb 2015 14:27

The Jolly Brewers, Worthing

The pub has now been demolished and flats are being built.

17 Feb 2015 14:14

Anchored in Worthing, Worthing

The original micro pub in Worthing. A strictly Sussex only policy for the beer and even the wine. The red wine is from the Bolney Estate and very palatable. A place to have a drink and a chat with friendly strangers. Note 21:30 closing at the moment. Worth a visit.

17 Feb 2015 14:10

Brookstead Alehouse, Worthing

Been here a couple of times and will continue to visit the place. It is a micropub so the opening times are restricted, closing at 21:30 in the evening I believe. No standing is allowed, at the moment as stipulated by the local council, so the hosts bring your beer to your beer to your table. Was previously a hairdressers. Good selection of ales on gravity and an excellent selection of bottled Belgium beers all at a very cheap price. 1 minute from Worthing station.

3 Feb 2015 12:00

The Tea Clipper, Knightsbridge

I actually think this is quite an under rated place. Decent beer and food. While not up to the standards of the pubs in Kinerton Street still worth a visit.

3 Feb 2015 11:55

The Wilton Arms, Belgravia

Decent pub with good beer and food. Friendly atmosphere. A nice out of the way location. Just a couple of doors down from the Nags. Highly recommended.

3 Feb 2015 11:52

The Nags Head, Belgravia

Hasn't changed much since I first set foot in here 25 years ago. A very idiosyncratic landlord which gives the place real character. If you ask for chips with your food be prepared for a torrent of abuse. No mobiles allowed but I've never seen anyone using one inside the pub. Be warned it is a small pub. Highly recommended.

3 Feb 2015 11:50

The Grenadier, Belgravia

Yes its expensive but it has tremendous character. Its down a Mews just off Belgave Square so it can be hard to find.

3 Feb 2015 11:46

All Bar One, Victoria

Only for youngsters who are deaf. We hated it. Not a pub.

3 Feb 2015 11:43

The Rising Sun, Nutbourne

The only thing wrong with this pub is the lack of car parking. Not that it is a problem. Good beer food and wine. Friendly bar staff. Whats not to like about this place. Decent sized garden when the weather permits. Definitely should be sought out and tried.

23 Sep 2014 14:19

The George and Dragon, Shipley

A decent pub with decent food. Worth hunting out. Beware of the low ceiling in one of the sit down areas.

23 Sep 2014 14:14

The Antelope, Belgravia

Now has bottled Chimay Blue and Trippel. This pub has been a favourite of ours for many years and it has maintained a good standard throughout.

6 Sep 2013 14:19

King's Arms, Chelsea

Reasonable choice of ales. We were there at a lunchtime and its usually fairly empty at this time. Better atmosphere than the Angelsea. Along with The Crown just down the road decent beer and prices are available in this area.

5 Sep 2013 15:33

The Royal Oak, Westminster

The kitchen is now reopen and as a consequence the crowds have returned. We still rate this pub, bar staff are always smiling and friendly. It is small and does get crowded but give it try.

20 Aug 2013 14:54

The Anglesea Arms, Chelsea

There's no doubting that there is an interesting portfolio of ales usually on. Interestingly when we were there there was a chap checking the temperature of them all. The one complaint I have is that the staff do seem rushed of there feet and they don't seem to smile alot. Worth a visit or a detour if you are in the locale.

20 Aug 2013 14:45

The Coopers Arms, Chelsea

A good selection of well kept beers. Friendly staff, nice ambience. I suspect it could get quite busy but it was quiet when we were there. Not cheap but then what is in this area.

16 Aug 2013 13:57

The Zetland Arms, South Kensington

A Taylor Walker pub so you know what to expect. Quite often overrun by tourists. Does seem to have improved since the last lot of comments but at the end of the day its just another anonymous pub in the centre of London.

15 Aug 2013 14:29

The Crown, Chelsea

A decent pub which is not as expensive as its Kings Road neighbours. Actually has the the atmosphere of a pub with pleasant bar staff. Limited choice of beer but definately worth an excursion if you are in the area.

15 Aug 2013 14:22

The Hour Glass, South Kensington

A decent pub in an area dominated by non pub types and tourists. Decent beer, decent food and a decent atmosphere. Not the largest of pubs btw which is is probably why we liked it.

15 Aug 2013 14:18

The Brass Monkey, Victoria

In the evening it can be heaving but at lunchtime its a much better place. The prices for drink and food and actually very competetive with other pubs in the area and at lunchtime the bar staff have the time to be friendly.

25 Jul 2013 14:53

The Lord High Admiral, Pimlico

Currently boarded up and for sale.

25 Jul 2013 14:49

The White Horse and Bower, Westminster

One of the better pubs in the area. Can get very busy. Nothing to rave about but nothing to really complain about.

25 Jul 2013 14:48

The Royal Oak, Westminster

With the kitchen being closed for at least 18 months I don't know how it stayed open. Food is now back on which is great because it is a small single bar pub which makes a real change. Still owned by Youngs and a decent pint.

25 Jul 2013 14:46

The Lord High Admiral, Pimlico

We've tried it a couple of times since the change of ownership. One time had no bitter on. Avoid at all costs.

12 Oct 2010 09:06

The Cask, Pimlico

Now known as The Cask and an excellent if expensive gastro pub. Large selection of Belgian ales and UK beers ( usually at least 6 on).

12 Oct 2010 09:05

The Constitution, Pimlico

Nearly 4 years since our last review and I'm pleased to say its still a regular for the boyz. For some time now they have been doing a lunch special of a meal and a pint/large wine etc for 6.

12 Oct 2010 09:00

The Luppitt Inn, Luppitt

I moved to Luppitt 5 weeks ago and this is now my local. It's not your city or a touristy pub so steer clear if that's your thing.

It's more a turn of the century C19 small village inn that has remained unchanged - thank heavens too - because it's the friendliest pub I've ever had the pleasure of frequenting, the landlady (Mary Wright) and regulars are very welcoming - contrary to what our American vistors posted earlier.

There are a selection of puzzles to keep you occupied and believe me they will keep you occupied so you'll need to keep an eye on the time because they are enthralling; and they do change over the weeks so there's always something new to test your wits against.

So pop in and say hello and come and experience probably one of the last surviving pubs of it's kind.

Will.

3 Sep 2008 16:12

The George and Dragon, Tarring

A much better pub than the rating suggests. Yes it can be cliquey but its not as bad as it used to be. Has a nice garden now that the warmer evenings are arriving.

5 Jun 2008 14:54

The Queens Head, West Chiltington

Have avoided this pub in the past but with the Elephant & Castle closed gave it a try. Pleasantly surprised. Decent food and good service now make it well worth a visit.

5 Jun 2008 14:49

The Victoria, Victoria

A decent enough pub for the area. More commuters than tourists so it will have very definite busy times.

18 Mar 2008 12:02

The Coach and Horses, Westminster

Now closed. Trade had dropped off since the smoking ban and there seemed to be a problem with the kitchen. Always seeing food being sent back. Can't see it reopening as its in a bit out of the way.

3 Dec 2007 14:32

The Lord High Admiral, Pimlico

Following our last review in December I can report very little seems to have changed. Still run by the Portugese. Never seems to get busy at a lunch time. The staff are also pleasant to me and the Boyz.

5 Oct 2007 13:46

The Coach and Horses, Westminster

This pub is due to close soon but this has been the situation for the last 3 months. It has gone downhill as a result. Still cheap but very little to now recommend it.

5 Oct 2007 13:42

The Red Lion, Westminster

Very crowded on the street level so we went downstairs. Pleasant enough but nothing to shout about.

30 Mar 2007 15:07

The Kings Arms, Mayfair

Like the Ye Grapes its a better place to visit in the summer. Given a choice between the two I would just prefer this. Again if you're in the area use if not you'[ve missed absolutely nothing.

30 Mar 2007 14:54

Ye Grapes, Mayfair

Definately a summer pub but then Shepherds Market is better in the summer. Can get very busy. To be honest its not worth going out of ones way for.

30 Mar 2007 14:51

The Royal Oak, Westminster

A decent enough pub. Friendly Landlord and bar staff when we were there. The pub is geared up for standing drinkers.

30 Mar 2007 14:43

The White Swan, Pimlico

Very busy when we were there. Found it to be a fairly average pub. Much better pubs just round the corner.

9 Mar 2007 10:15

The Surprise at Pimlico, Pimlico

Very much a "locals" pub. Extremely smokey when we were there.

9 Mar 2007 10:09

The Sanctuary House, Westminster

Have been avoiding this place as it looked a bit trendy but I must admit I was quite taken with this place when we finally frequenred it. Very busy but the bar staff, including your standard Polish bar girls, were very pleasant. Pricey but decent food and well kept Fullers' ales. Definately worth a visit.

1 Mar 2007 14:07

The Albert, St James's

Functional and that really sums it up. It has potential but certainly not up to the standard of some of the pubs nearby.

2 Feb 2007 15:47

St Stephens Tavern, Westminster

Very olde worlde, well 1950/60s, which makes a change from some of the antiseptic modern refurbishments. Can get very busy with tourists. Good choice of ale. Worth a visit if your're in the area.

2 Feb 2007 15:45

The Old Star, Westminster

There was a pleasant ambiance when we were there with friendly bar staff. Food was decent too. Just across the road from St James tube station.

29 Jan 2007 14:27

The Greencoat Boy, Victoria

A T&J pub. Food not as good as others in the chain. Good selection of wine but it was Australia Day. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

29 Jan 2007 14:22

The The White Ferry, Victoria

What could be called a "Real Locals" pub, you'll either love it for being just that or hate it. WHen we were there it had the atmosphere of a funeral. Not for us I'm afraid. Mind you its a lovely old building

16 Jan 2007 15:25

The Prince of Wales, Pimlico

Better pubs are available nearby. Ok for a quick pint but nothing much else.

16 Jan 2007 15:05

The Speaker, Westminster

Good joice of beer and wine. Good atmosphere. Worth a visit.

11 Jan 2007 14:27

The Westminster Arms, Westminster

A good range of ales but it is pricey. Can get very packed and the service isn't great. Definately better pubs nearby.

10 Jan 2007 13:56

The Antelope, Belgravia

A really pleasant pub. Decent ale and food. Can get a bit smokey but there is a no smoking area. Very friendly staff.

5 Jan 2007 14:48

Kings Arms, Victoria

It can get quite busy but its a reasonable enough place. Friendly staff.

4 Jan 2007 14:18

The Bag O' Nails, Victoria

Not as bad I thought it might be. Decent enough range of ales and pleasant staff. Not sure what it would be like during the tourist season.

4 Jan 2007 14:15

The Battle of Trafalgar, Brighton

Very handy for the station. Good beer, good atmosphere well worth a visit.

15 Dec 2006 13:23

The Barley Mow, Westminster

No complaints apart from it being a little expensive. Can get busy late in the week with office workers.

15 Dec 2006 13:21

The Grenadier, Belgravia

Yes its a bit snobby but the beer is good and the food is excellent , if a bit expensive. Very nice barmaid and good ambience. Well worth a visit.

14 Dec 2006 15:24

Adam and Eve, Westminster

Friendly landlady who has pride in her beer. Food service is a bit slow. Handy if the Buckingham is too full.

8 Dec 2006 14:13

The Selden Arms, Worthing

Decent food as well.

7 Dec 2006 10:49

The Charles Dickens, Worthing

Last time I visited here there was a no smoking area upstairs. Usually a decent selection of ale on tap.

7 Dec 2006 10:44

The Downview, Worthing

Ceratinly had a "reputation" a few years ago. Much quieter now and dare I say it more "laid back". Handy for West Worthing station.

7 Dec 2006 10:42

The Vine, Tarring

Trying to get back to its glory days. A younger (compared to before) crowd now use this place and given it a bit of life. Well worth a visit. A big garden round the back.

7 Dec 2006 10:35

The Masons Arms, Fitzrovia

Well worth visiting. Decent food. Usually have a decent guest beer on.

7 Dec 2006 10:28

The Duke of York, Marylebone

A better pub than it looks. Plenty of tables outside during the summer to watch the totty. Food ok.

7 Dec 2006 10:25

The Kings Head, Marylebone

A proper pub. Great fish and chips. It is small though and can get very smokey.

7 Dec 2006 10:22

The Jeremy Bentham, Bloomsbury

The beer here is usually very good but it is rather pricey. Nice to sit outside in the summer and watch the totty. Food's ok. Always found the bar staff very friendly.

7 Dec 2006 10:20

The Yorkshire Grey, Fitzrovia

Always preferred this place to the Crown and Sceptre. A decent Sam Smiths pub.

7 Dec 2006 10:15

The Green Man, Fitzrovia

USed it a few times when Kiwi Phil was there. I always thought it was underrated. Certainly not trendy like the C&S, more like a pub. Needs to be revisited to check the new landlord out.

7 Dec 2006 10:12

The Crown and Sceptre, Fitzrovia

An extremely popular pub frequented by many BBC types including the odd name. Seems to get refurbished regularly. Always overflows into the street during the summer.

7 Dec 2006 10:09

The Ship, Fitzrovia

Hated this place. Booze prices were Scandanavian. However it did seem to be popular with some of my colleagues who used it as a meeting room. Zoe Ball used to be a regular. Closed at weekends.

7 Dec 2006 10:07

The Tower Tavern, Fitzrovia

Our offices were just round the corner and this place had a terrible reputation. Actually it is a lot better than it looks (60s estate pub). Decent food at lunch time.

7 Dec 2006 10:05

The Stags Head, Fitzrovia

Ok for a quick pint but rather characterless.

7 Dec 2006 10:03

The Dover Castle, Marylebone

A deservedly popular pub in a Mews just off Cavendish Street. Always decent bar staff.

7 Dec 2006 10:00

The Two Chairmen, St James's

A small pub out of the way which can get busy. Nothing to rate it highly on and nothing to rate it lowly on. Average.

7 Dec 2006 09:47

The Buckingham Arms, Westminster

I've visited this pub off and on over the last 20 years. Never seems too busy in the evening which just makes it even nicer. Used to be a regular entrant in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide but I don't know if it still is. Should be on every one's list to visit.

7 Dec 2006 09:45

The Cask and Glass, Victoria

An extremely small pub. No hot food. A pub with definite character and characters (both sides of the bar) which you will either love or hate. Give it a try.

7 Dec 2006 09:41

The Colonies, Westminster

This pub can get very busy as its popular with the local offices particularly on a Friday. A better pub to eat in than drink in.

7 Dec 2006 09:39

The Cardinal, Victoria

Tucked away from the main streets. Its a large pub with a no smoking restaurent area at the rear. It does get busy at lunch time. Decent atmosphere and bar staff. Food portions are generous. Worth a visit if you like Sam Smiths.

7 Dec 2006 09:36

The Belgravia, Belgravia

An estate pub in a rather posh area. It does have a decent patio area for when the weather is good and the food portions are decent but little else to recommend it

7 Dec 2006 09:31

The Constitution, Pimlico

Well the boyz like this one. Big portions of food, limited menu though, and decent booze. If you use the tables outside check the stability and the angle. Good ambiance with a varied clientel. Can get a bit smokey sometimes. 8/10

5 Dec 2006 14:59

The Grosvenor, Westminster

Have used this pub pre and post name change. I must admit I quite like it. Quiet but not dead. The food used to be below average but it looks better now, but haven't tried. There's some nice leather chairs inside and you can play darts.

5 Dec 2006 14:52

The Morpeth Arms, Pimlico

A riverside pub. Well the Thames is across the busy main road. Decent booze, decent food, decent atmosphere, decent. 7/10

5 Dec 2006 14:50

The Lord High Admiral, Pimlico

Still run by the Portugese. Ordering food can be fun or an ordeal depending on your point of view. The staff do respond well to a smile. We've never left a tip. Have visited it several times but have never seen a fight but it does sometimes have an "air" to the place especially the "upstairs" part.

5 Dec 2006 14:46

The Coach and Horses, Westminster

Cheapest bottle of wine around. Rioja was 5.99 and quite quaffable. A lot of locals frequent here but its certainly not unfriendly. Decent bar staff as well. The equally cheap food is ok but the portiuon sizes have recently got smaller. The pool table has gone and been replaced by some comfey seats. Can get a little smokey. There are better pubs around but it is still one of our regular haunts.

5 Dec 2006 13:58

The Jugged Hare, Pimlico

Certainly a favourite with many people that I know and to be fair it does deserve it. Beer and wine is usually very good and the food excellant. Friendly bar staff. However it just lacks something. Perhaps I just prefer the smaller pubs around Victoria.

5 Dec 2006 13:46

The Stage Door, Victoria

Stays busy throughout the day. Not one of my favourites especially as it does get quite smokey. Not complaints about the alcohol.

5 Dec 2006 13:42

The Orange Brewery, Belgravia

A decent enough place but certainly not worth going out of the way for.

5 Dec 2006 13:35

The Rising Sun, Belgravia

Recently "under new management". When we were there it was staffed by young enthusiastic Portugese girls. Decent enough beer and wine. A couple of the boyz thought the food was a bit greasy. We will revisit soon.

5 Dec 2006 13:33

The Fox and Hounds, Belgravia

Certainly a locals pub but not unfriendly. The beer and wine was reasonably priced.

5 Dec 2006 13:29

Duke Of Wellington, Belgravia

Can get a little cramped but well worth a visit. Decent food when we were there.

5 Dec 2006 13:22

The Nags Head, Belgravia

Pleasantly surpirsed by this pub. Very friendly bar staff and good food.

5 Dec 2006 13:18

The Wilton Arms, Belgravia

A deservedly popular pub. Good food at lunchtime and good atmosphere.

5 Dec 2006 13:14

The Pantechnicon Rooms, Knightsbridge

A reasonable enough pub but there is better nearby.

5 Dec 2006 13:11

The Star Tavern, Belgravia

A deservedly popular pub. First visited it in 1984, nuff said.

5 Dec 2006 13:07

The Horse and Groom, Belgravia

During the summer many tables are placed outside for eating. A decent menu and it does get very busy at lunchtime and in the evenings. The mews location means it safe to stand outside as only the occassional Chelsea tractor goes by. A pub we go back to repeatedly.

5 Dec 2006 12:33

The Talbot, Belgravia

Very popular at lunchtimes if it is sunny. The outside tables can be reserved and this makes it popular with office groups. No complaints about the beer, wine or food. Could do with extra bar staff the times we've been there.

5 Dec 2006 12:30

The Grouse and Claret, Belgravia

Easily missed so check the map. A decent pub with decent food. Friendly bar staff.

5 Dec 2006 12:26

The Plumbers Arms, Victoria

A favourite with the boys. Small but good beer and decent food. There is a small upstairs area if downstairs gets too crowded.

5 Dec 2006 12:23

The Lord Burleigh, Victoria

A pub we had always avoided but as we needed a quick lunchtime drink we gave it a go. Dark, dingey and very basic, plus we were the only ones there. Actually we quite liked it as it is completely different to everything else around and there was a very nice Aussie barmaid. Lots of people could be seen looking in through the murky windows but none were brave enough to venture in. Didn't try the Gents.
