The Kings Arms, Cartmel

One of those pubs that are better outside than in for that holiday experience. Mostly sunny when we've been here and always enjoyed it. Liked the food but don;t try the famous sticky toffee pudding. For the price and the amount you got it's better to buy from the shops. you'll get more and it'll cost less. Enjoy a pint in the sun outside you can't buy that experience.

The Royal Oak Inn, Cartmel

Quite enjoyed the pub. The beer garden is the best feature so only works when the sun is shining, when it was this was where we headed during our weeks stay. The food was mostly good but we had a long delay on one occasion which was compensated for by the good weather and the offer of a free drink after complaining (not taken up on though). In all the preferred choice of pub in Cartmel. Thought one staff member was excellent the other abrupt.

Bourne Arms, Knott End on Sea

Visited at lunchtime. Very welcoming pub. Nice food, nice pint. The dog was made a fuss of.

Red Hart, Blaisdon

Called in on holiday by recommendation and visited all of the rest of the week afterwards.
Whilst I cannot comment on the previous comments due to spending most of the time in the beer garden due to the weather I can say that we found the staff most helpful. The food was slightly overpriced for a pub lunch but on the other hand the Chicken and Leek pie was fantastic and well worth the money. The poppadoms with the curry were also the best i've tasted.
After that we never looked to visit elsewhere.

The Beehive, Penkhull

Have always been impressed by this pub. Whilst not a regular the current owners certainly make you feel like one. Several beers available on my last call and a most enjoyable visit this time round as ever.

The Prince of Wales, Macclesfield

Wow!! Called in today. Everything you could wish for in a pub. Cosy feel, happy clientele (and Macc were relegated today), Helpful bar staff, books or papers to read. A cracking pint or two in this case! Both me & the missus loved it. I wished this oub was round the corner from me. We live quite a few miles from this place but it shall always be on my calling card in future, Highly recommended. Would have scored a 10 but will reserve judgement in case I dropped in a a good day!

The Tut 'N' Shive, Doncaster

Paid a recent visit to Donny. Only pub I visited twice. Excellent pint both times, i'd have liked to have tried the pub at night but was restricted to lunchtime. Well worth a try and if you take the missus the shopping bit is next door.

The Yorkshire Terrier Inn, York

Excellent pub. Wished I could have stopped for more of the excellent brew (on this occasion Guzzler). Was looking for this pub but dropped on it by chance. Was only in York for the weekend but this was the best pub I ventured into and well worth seeking out. A shop on the premises too.

The Cross Keys Hotel, York

Stopped for a meal which was okay but we couldn't sit in our original choice of seat as it was bleeding freezing due to the doors being wide open so people could nip out for a fag. Other people seemed to agree as one half of the room was empty.

Bar Eden, Whiting Bay

Just returned from a weeks holiday where this pub became the pub for a night visit, although they haven't really got a rival. I was taken aback by the 3 a pint but that could be said for the whole island. They still have the Deuchars IPA on with the other pump selling Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted which was replaced by Abbotts at the end of the week. The food as has already been noted is pricey but well cooked and seemed popular with all visitors. The place seemed to lack atmosphere which maybe because most people were dining as opposed to supping but good place to sit outside if warm and staff were pleasant and heplful.

The Victoria Inn, Borth

Have just spent a pleasant week on my hols and found this pub straight away (can't really miss it as it is a bright lilac colour). As we were with the dog we spent our time round the back facing the fantastic view of the sea, fortunately the weather was clement for the time of year. An excellent pint, pleasant staff made for a very good holiday. Seemed popular with those passing by on coastal walks and was very busy at the weekend.Only complaint was the midges getting everywhere but the pub can hardly be blamed for them. Hope to visit again sometime.

The Leopard, Burslem

Recently taken over and for the better. Excellent range of beers and though i've not tried the food yet the report's i've heard are very favourable. The room's are beginning to fill up as it grows in popularity and all in all The Leopard seems to have the owners such an historic pub deserves.

The Olde White Rose, Bilston

Excellent choice of beers, I could have stayed in here all night.Handy for the Robin round the corner (where i was heading).nice pleasant surroundings

The Knott Bar, Deansgate

Excellent bar, always head for here whenever up Manc.Good juke box as well if on the low side volume wise. (i'm not one for loud music in bars unless it's to my taste).Good selection of ales.

The Reginald Mitchell, Hanley

Now an absolute dive i think the bouncers are there to keep people in.If you must go try the afternoon.

Syndicate, Hanley

Shut. It is now called Varsity,if you've been to any town centre pub chain you know what this pub looks like.

30 Mar 2006 20:49

The Coachmakers Arms, Hanley

Recently become my local.Usually around six guest beers to choose from and even cask lager if that's your preference. The pub has been going since the turn of the century and probably hasn't changed much inside. Outside loo's for the gents a beer corridor and a few smaal rooms.regular CAMRA pub of the month plus friendly and helpful staff.Marvellous.

30 Mar 2006 20:46

Strugglers Inn, Lincoln

Was quite popular when we called in on a visit to Lincoln on a Saturday afternoon.Thought we would have to hover by the already busy bar.Tried the beer garden and instead of freezing to death it was covered and had heaters on,the first occasion i had come across them (i believe its catching on now).oo ale good pub.

The Bulls Head, Burslem

The flagship pub of the Titanic Brewery(no pun intentended). Two rooms and an outdoor bar used in the summer for the regular beer festivals.Lounge has a roaring fire for the cold winter month's whilst the bar has an almost whispering jukebox that doesn't intrude on the conversation.Regular changing ales complete an almost perfect pub that is hard to move from when you're settled which is why i always finish off in there

31 Mar 2005 23:58

The Post Office Vaults, Burslem

Small is the word in here, but a grand place to watch the world go by when its not too busy ie less than twenty people in.The Abbots is always excellent and worth a visit.

31 Mar 2005 23:48

The Unicorn Inn, Hanley

This pub is in an ideal location smack bang in the middle of the city centre but just off the beaten path of the young trendy bars(in other words away from the noise and violence). It's right across from the Regent theatre and they will even reserve you a pint for the half time interval cheaper than the expensive crap and queues. Also just round the corner is the Sugarmill. The place is full of brass plates etc and is a relaxing haven in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but just concentrate when you are going to this pub as i've walked past it a few times and i'm a regular.

31 Mar 2005 23:40

The Fox and Duck, Hanley

Pricey ale but a nice pub on the fringe of the city centre.

31 Mar 2005 23:31

The Albion, Hanley

Cosmopolitan pub with a mixture of all ages

31 Mar 2005 23:29

The Plough, Etruria

Predominately a pub for eating as many nights are for diners only. This is a pity as the pub is a delight. It has a country pub feel which is remarkable as its only just on the outskirts of the city centre.I've always had a decent pint, the food is excellent mainly serving steaks with fantastic sauces however you want them cooked. You certainly cant go wrong if you book a table here for a special occasion.

31 Mar 2005 23:28

The Red Lion, Burslem

This pub is back on my list of regular haunts after its refurb, but mainly because of the selection of ales.It always has a beer from the local Titanic brewey and somewhat bizarrely Archers of Swindon. The bar is a mix of all ages and just the right tempo on the excellent jukebox.

31 Mar 2005 23:22

The New Finney Gardens, Bucknall

My local.I was delighted when the pub finally started to sell a guest ale instead of the sub standard Pedigree. My only complaint is that they turn the badge of the handpull back to front so you think the ale is not available.Thats my only quibble, the pub is well kept inside and out and the staff are pleasant and quick to serve you.

31 Mar 2005 23:18

The Wheatsheaf, Stoke on Trent

Always appears to be busy and sells cheap real ale.I always feel slightly intimidated when i walk in here but it's probably just me as i've had no problems whatsoever and haven't even been offended by a poor pint yet.
