The Albion, Wem

The Albion isn't the Albion now, a great couple and their son and daughter in law have reopened the place as the Drayton Gate. Good cocktails, super service and great food

The Cock, Broom

Lovely country pub, really pleasant garden and courtyard, but the biggest surprise is when you walk into the pub and the barrels are still located in the cellar. 4 lovely ales on with Woodfords Wherry and Caledonian Light on the day we visited. Really well kept ales, good pub food, not posh but very good VFM. Recommended if you are in the area. Lovely.

14 Mar 2015 17:08

The Steamer Inn, Shanklin

Always good beer, food very nice, good crab and prawn salad. Lovely sea views and pleasant patio area.

16 May 2014 20:25

Re-opening tonight 16th of May - I won't get there for a few weeks

16 May 2014 20:22

The Tontine Inn, Melverley

My goodness this pub has changed! Real lovely inside with lots of new spaces to sit depending how formal you want to be. Great beers , mega friendly out front landlord - lovely in a lovely setting.

The Eight Bells, Carisbrooke

Beer good, food good and they don't rip you off. Good Island pub.

7 Apr 2012 13:04

The Waterfront Bar, Totland Bay

Blimey, this place has changed for the better. Restaurant run separate to bar. Beer and lager selection quite good, food marvellous and the most unspoilt gorgeous bay on the Island, recommended.

7 Apr 2012 13:03

The Union Inn, Cowes

Nice wee pub, 4 lovely ales to choose from, I had a couple of Seafarers, although was tempted by the HSB and the London Pride. Nice Sandwich menu, not expensive and very tasty to boot.

7 Apr 2012 13:01

The New Inn, Shalfleet

A good pint of real ale and a decent meal for 5 people had, however NOT the cheapest pub on the Island for food or drink. 3/4 good ales to choose from but as previous comment not the cheapest available decent real ale.

7 Apr 2012 12:58

Stanton Arms, Shrewsbury

One of the quaintest, loveliest unspoilt village pubs in all of Shropshire, with a landlord and landlady that not only know how to cook but also how to keep great beer, Three Tuns pale on when we went in and delicious with it, alongside well kept Guinness and Hendricks Gin, lovely garden too for hazy summer days.

15 May 2011 16:28

Dog in the Lane, Astley

Very friendly obliging team at this pub. Staropramen lager very good, but the Astley Ale tops it for me over my lager drinking friends........ Seems busy enough most days now

25 Apr 2011 15:48

Railway Inn, Shrewsbury

Went here again for our bi-annual beer! Carling ok for the other half (strange lager drinking being), Salopian was good enough for me (proper beer drinking girlie). Nice little pub that clearly hasn't changed in years.

25 Apr 2011 15:46

The Albion, Wem

Pub now open again. Nice landladies, clearly trying hard to get the pub back on the map. Garden now nice, beers your usual standard pub ales, however nicely kept.

25 Apr 2011 15:44

The Fox and Barrel, Cotebrook

Used this pub several times for 'work' dinners with customers, great food and wow pint of Weetwood. Nice inside and out and look forward to visiting again. Nice and easy to get to too - right on the A49 - 30 mins from Wem and 10 mins from Winsford

26 Feb 2011 18:01

The Old Fort, Seaview

Good beer, although no big choice as mentioned before, however, yummy food, gorgeous view and good value for money.

26 Oct 2010 16:21

The Mytton and Mermaid, Atcham

Went here last night. Normally ok food and drink. However issues with the pumps so not much to choose from. When they did get the pumps going my other half ordered a Staropramen lager as there was nothing else on and was served a pint of pipe detergent as they had not ran it through.....nice. For the price of the place I would head into Shrewsbury to the Three Fishes.

2 Oct 2010 23:45

The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury

Marvellous beers today. Oakham Ales Tutankamoun if thats how you spell it and Hyndles Blonde I think with an Elderflower hue, may not have got that quite right but damn splendid anyhow. And as previous review states a mighty fine homemade pork pie from the local butcher. Try the pie with a side of mango chutney - fantastic. Three pints and I was one happy bunny.

25 Sep 2010 15:56

The Dickin Arms, Wem

Damn nice pint of Well's Bombardier, Theakstons Best tasty too, choccy bars and snacks, comfy sofa, plenty of tellies for sport, lovely landlady.

19 Sep 2010 17:07

The Corbet Arms, Uffington

Went through the door and was immediately ushered to a table!! I wanted to see the beer selection........ordered food, goats cheese parcels wouldn't have fed a mouse, however steak ok ish. Beer turned out to be not bad, lager was lager. Ok but not cheap and lacked character.....

24 Aug 2010 19:03

Railway Inn, Shrewsbury

Lovely beer as usual this Sunday, nice selection of local and not so local brews, landlady as cheerful as ever. Basic but very very nice.

24 Aug 2010 18:58

The Beat at Hodnet, Hodnet

Smashing landlady, nice simple food, big portions if you like it that way, and well kept ale, burger and chips great, big thick burger to wash down your beer with, also nice for a change, half pint and ful pint pub nibbles of chips, onions rings etc to munch at the bar - lovely.

3 Aug 2010 20:25

The Cross Foxes, Erbistock

Always a warm welcome, although get in early on a weekend evening if you want to eat, nice food, great wines and beers - not the cheapest but a lovely river garden, sensational in the summer

4 Jul 2010 20:11

The Tontine Inn, Melverley

Cheap food, but mediocre, beer okay, nice people own the pub so thats a bonus, nice garden, thats all i can say really.

3 Jul 2010 19:10

Bull and Dog, Whitchurch

This pub has just reopened and is somewhat a tadge sterile. Nicely decorated I guess with a patio area, however something missing - food good enough if not a little pricey mind. May be better in a couple of months.

3 Jul 2010 19:08

Wight Mouse Inn, Chale

Lovely pint of ale and nice venue for a family lunch, ace garden for the kids and food not bad at all, yes its a chain, but if on hols the beer is good and what a view!!!! Two visits over Easter week can't be bad.

8 Apr 2010 21:01

The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury

Oh my goodness, another yummy lunch, and a good few pints - always a splendid 5 or 6 to choose from, Timmy Taylor always splendid too. Still the bestest alehouse in the country if not the world..............

4 Apr 2010 13:10

The Plough and Barleycorn, Shanklin

Newly opened and refurbed, we happened to be staying at her B and B and had a pint of splendid Doom Bar, yum. Good Luck in your new venture - recommended

5 Jul 2009 19:49

The River and Rail, Hampton Loade

Good food, nice pint, lovely places to walk after. Landlord really friendly brings a nice atmosphere to a confused building - is it old or is it new?

5 Jul 2009 19:44

The Rock Inn, Haytor Vale

Love it, great beer, great food, quaint pub, clean

5 Jul 2009 19:43

The Fox and Hounds, Shawbury

Had some great beer and meals when it opened , now established no kids post 7.30pm. Well we have well behaved kids and when I'm spending 70 on beer and food would like the option to stay a tadge later!

5 Jul 2009 19:37

Mad Jacks Bar, Shrewsbury

A nice place to drink and eat, not a beer drinkers pub, but a good pint of Warsteiners lager (hope I spelled that right!!) Great cocktails, great with children (makes a change), lovely food and atmosphere. Nice and simple, good staff too.

5 Jul 2009 19:34

Railway Inn, Shrewsbury

A very good village pub, great beers and dominos. A nice ham sandwich cos thats as complex as it gets and you wouldn' t want it any other way.

5 Jul 2009 19:29

27 Jun 2009 20:38

27 Jun 2009 20:34

The Combermere Arms, Burleydam

Had a lovely Mothers Day tea here. Beer great, wines great. Food delicious especially the chocolate sharing dessert. Also do great kid's portions. Lovely all round.

15 Apr 2009 19:06

The Bridgewater Arms, Harmer Hill

Went in last night - usual landlord gone, beer average, ran out of loads of the dishes in the menu. Won't be back well disappointed.

15 Apr 2009 19:03

The Corbet Arms, Upton Magna

My goodness what a lovely little pub! Beware though the food is humungous! Massive portions of fisn and chips, gammon and chips - great pub food, my kids could have shared a plate! Good beer although only Pedigree on when we visited - splendid night out in chilled atmosphere.

1 Mar 2009 10:36

The Cheshire Cat, Chester

My goodness where do I start. Slow service at the bar for a beer, then we ordered food - well they had to clarify the order 5 times! Yes 5 times on 5 separate occasions. Starters were ok I guess, then the mains came 50 minutes after the starters. My daughters pasta dish was cold, my little ones sausage and mash microwaved and our open chicken pies were stone cold. Then to add insult to injury when we sent them back they microwaved for a minute and bought the same ones back out - yum yum. Anyhows, it might be alright for a slow beer but the food was a shocker!
We did complain and did get a refund.

1 Mar 2009 10:33

The Swan Inn, Aston Munslow

Went here for food last night, lovely simple well cooked food and plenty on your plate, plus some great Hobson's beer. It is such a lovely old place (dates back to the 1350's) with lots of little rooms and a nice garden too.

30 Aug 2008 15:29

The Anchor, Seatown

Yet again a lovely lunch and good beer, possibly the best view in England also. The crab sandwiches are fab. Not the poshest pub but lovely all the same.

30 Aug 2008 15:27

The Bottle and Glass Inn, Picklescott

Still good, lovely pint of Three Tuns and Hobsons on too. Food fab, pretty location, can't go wrong.

6 Aug 2008 16:46

The Raven Inn, Wem

Sorry, but after an extremely disappointing evening here a couple of Fridays ago I take back my comments -the food was overdone nigh on burnt, the landlord arrogant when I complained and told me thats how the food should be! The beer was also mediocre - won't be back in there.

14 Jul 2008 20:13

The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury

Haven't been in for a few months, beer selection still fantastic, Newby Wyke on at the moment, food still great too, a lovely, friendly town centre pub

28 Mar 2008 20:26

Just so you know, this pub is now open, beer not bad at all, food good, big open bar and food area....

4 Jan 2008 21:00

The Bridgewater Arms, Harmer Hill

This pub has now been completely refurbished. It is nice and clean inside with sofas and comfy seats if you just want a beer and lots of tables for eating, beer ok, prices ok, food chain style but what we had tasted great. Not over pricey.

18 Sep 2007 19:21

Good beer, very child tolerant, homely facilities, nice games room away from the bar and attached to a very reasonably priced restaurant and we are just visitors!

18 Sep 2007 19:19

The Tower Bank Arms, Sawrey

I went to this pub late last year and forgot to post a comment sorry, absolutely fabulous, so so so quaint and unspoilt - had a pint and a lovely apple pie and custard and fell asleep in front of a roaring fire.

18 Sep 2007 19:10

The Mytton and Mermaid, Atcham

I could not believe the ignorance of the whole place, we went for Sunday Lunch and was told that we were too late, 3 yuppies turned up 20 minutes after us and got served!!! Well - we will take our custom else where, too busy with weddings now me thinks....

18 Sep 2007 19:01

The Crown Inn, Shorwell

Lovely pub, pleasant gardens. Food good, especially IOW crab sandwiches - yum. Definitely doggies in there when we went in, so not sure if rules have changed again?

2 Sep 2007 21:46

Folly Inn, Whippingham

27 Aug 2007 23:04

Pant Yr Ochain, Gresford

Ok, so the location is cool, but the food is mediocre, the attitude towards children is decidedly snotty, considering they expect you to buy full adult meals for them. You decide, but different attitude altogether at the Combermere Arms, Burleydam (and same chain!)

27 Aug 2007 23:03

The Steamer Inn, Shanklin

Always have a good evening here, good beers, good live music and food nice. Good atmosphere with all the naval stuff

10 Aug 2007 22:36

Been here 3 times this year, had a lovely lunch just last week, sat on the decking in the sun, glorious crayfish ciabatta and a pint - just mighty fine

10 Aug 2007 22:33

The Two Henrys, Battlefield

Great family pub, magic playzone, ok so the food is pub chain food but it is good value with an extensive kids menu, good beer and not overpriced, great for a Sunday chill

2 Aug 2007 22:01

The Raven Inn, Wem

Rating of 8 from when last open, just so you know and don't have a wasted journey, this pub is being done up right now, opens later this year

2 Aug 2007 21:58

The Harbour Inn, Axmouth

Driving out of Axmouth when we spotted this and dived in for a beer - great beer it was too, food looked good although we didn't try it - nice function room out back with games machines for kids. Lovely place - will be going back no doubt

2 Jun 2007 20:45

The Lulworth Beach Hotel, West Lulworth

Just came back from a week in Dorset, great sun terrace, not a huge selection of beers but waitress very very pleasant and the beer we drank was good. Food pricey but definitely worth it, their fish and seafood was excellent and cooked well. Been back twice now.
