The Swan Inn, Kettleshulme

Nice to find a pub open mid/ late afternoon midweek. Sat at the front tables in the warm muggy sun and enjoyed some fine Ossett ale.

Wagon & Horses, Redhill Arnold

Recent tasteful refurb and 5 ales on handpump, with emphasis on local micro brewers. Deserves to do well !

The Vat and Fiddle, Nottingham

Consistently great beer. Papers. Cats. Conversation. The more intelligent type of football fan- even Notts County ones! And a haven from television screens.

4 real ales now on offer. Quality...Ok...maybe a bit more TLC needed?

Great that a pub is making an effort in this part of Nottingham which is something of a real ale desert. To be encouraged.. !

The Stanley Arms, Macclesfield Forest

Excellent pint of Marstons Pedigree and guest ( Jennings) . Evidence of good menu .. good alternative to The Cat and Fiddle .

Pub was very quiet during this afternoon visit but at least it was open!

The Lincolnshire Poacher, Nottingham

Beer serving can be rushed, slop it out syndrome. Beers not always in their prime.

The Cross Keys, Nottingham

Thought it was quite expensive, though beer quality was great.

The Newshouse, Nottingham

Consistent beer quality and varied choice, bar billiards, feels like a proper pub. Friendly enough.

Strugglers Inn, Lincoln

Friendly pub, good range of well kept beer, nice suntrap beer garden out the back.

The Victoria, Lincoln

Consistently good pub. Recent visit had a slightly dozy barman not enjoying his Saturday morning shift, but we've all been there.

Great chips.

Fellows Morton & Clayton Ltd, Nottingham

Beer was alright, though a bit more TLC needed.

Great chips !

Would be nice if staff could clean up ...I sat on a soggy bar stool which had been the victim of some spillage.

The Hand and Heart, Nottingham

Paid a brief visit recently. Good range of unusual beers, nice decor, individualistic and the food smelled great. Hope to revisit soon.

The Old Nags Head, Edale

Visited last summer. Notice on door said it was closed due to a power cut, although the fruit machine was clearly still on....

Do they really want custom?

The Railway View, Macclesfield

Great pre match pub. Interesting local ales. Brilliant LOCAL pork pies.

The Rose and Crown, Bury

Another example of bad service last night...big game at Gigg with lots of extra customers. Only one ( slow and unobservant) bar staff. Landlady hiding upstairs.
This could be a GREAT pub with a bit more attention to customer service.

Up and Under, Nottingham

The Newshouse was a unique and wonderful thing...this place is a plastic Aussie nightmare. I'm sure any Aussies visiting the Newshouse would have loved it. Why do we destroy our own culture?

Reflex, Nottingham

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Tantra, Nottingham

Getting a bit cliquey. DJ plays awful music which the cliquey crowd seems to like.. Security staff can be a bit aggressive. Drinks are of course pricey.

The Lord Nelson, Arnold

Scary pub. People drink here to psyche themselves up before going into Asda to try some shoplifting.

The Three Crowns, Nottingham

Alright if you've recently been lobotomised.

The Broadway Cafe Bar, Nottingham

Nice atmosphere although staff tend to be slow to clear up tables. Lots of laptop users hog tables and sip fizzy water too.

The Rose and Crown, Bury

Still a great pub for pre match and post match pint. I understand however that the Pub Management Company policy means there is little incentive for staff to pull their tripe out.

The Ram Inn, Redhill

Went into this pub on a recent Saturday hoping for a pint, watch the footy and some conversation. Inside there was childrens birthday party complete with deafening disco. Lots of toddlers in push chairs with their Mums. Everyone was screaming at the top of their voices to be heard, even trying to talk to the person next to you. Nothing against kids parties but there are surely more appropriate places?
The landlady no doubt is trying to explore ways to make a living in a difficult time for pubs, but if this is the future you can keep it.
