The Duke of Kent, Ealing

I paid over 8 for two standard pints of lager, very expensive. I don't care how big the beer garden is, I won't be paying that again.

Flynn's, West Ealing

This is by far and away the best pub in Ealing. I've drank and ate in here on a numbr of occasions and I've never had a bad time. The whole place has a real family feel to it with an excellent mix of customers of all nationality and ages. The food and beer are great, the bar staff can't do enough to help you and the whole ship's tightly run by PJ the manager. There's a fantastic smoking area at the back which is great for watching sport on big match days with a great atmosphere. There's also a good live band most Saturday evenings. This really is a great Irish pub, I can't recommend it enough.

The Ramblers Bar, Penrith

Stayed at the Inn on the Lake and went looking for a pub. The Ramblers is more or less joined to the hotel and looks great from the outside. Unfortunately the whole place has a sterile chrome gastro feel. Go to the Ratchers Bar just down the road which has all the character that they've ripped out of this place.

The Halfway House, Barnes

Popped in here for a pint one Saturday before visiting friends, good beers, friendly locals, dart board, no airs and graces, no poncy chrome or gastro rubbish just a proper pub. A rare find these days. I'll be back for sure.

The Red Lion, Barnes

Popped in for dinner one Sunday, fish and chips was ok but overpriced as usual however they did have an interesting vegetarian option instead of the usual veggie burger. However full of annoying middle classes with horrible kids - the usual Barnes set.

The Ship and Anchor, Ford

We came across this pub whilst looking for a place to stay in the motorhome one night as it's right bedside the campsite field. It looked fabulous from the outside and was perfectly located for us to pop in for a pint and something to eat. It wasn't that busy but the landlord was friendly, beer good and food tasty as well. The TV was on for the football scores and we even had a few games of pool out the back. I'd really recommend this pub (especially if you're camping as well as you won't have to drive home after) and we'll be certain to return one day.

The Dukes Head, Putney

Expensive, expensive, avoid.

Prince Of Wales, Putney

Beer ok, staff nice and friendly, Scotch eggs massive and looked tasty. However 11 for fish and chips served on a wooden board - you're having a laugh. They also need to loose the TV in the corner as it just attracts football/rugby fans into a tiny front bar space. Otherwise not bad.

St Stephens Tavern, Westminster

My heart always sinks when someone recommends meeting here and I promptly try to change their mind. Why on earth would anyone want to drink in a pub where the bar staff have more floor space than the customers. It's just tiny. You can never get a seat and there's no where to stand when you can't except outside where most people are. Avoid going here at all cost.

The Dukes Head, Putney

I'm a young person who moved to Putney a few years ago and I enjoyed drinking at the Duke because it was one of the few places in Putney that had any character. However apart from the no smoking ban (which is coming in anyway)the recent renovation is a complete disaster. I don't mind paying an extortionate amount for a pint but not when the venue has been stripped of all its great character - something that the new Putnified wouldn't appreciate. The good comments can only have been left by the pub manager and bar staff. Unfortunately this has turned from a really great pub into another one of those bland places that you can find anywhere on the high street. Leave this place to the children.
