Ye Olde George, Colnbrook

First time we visited they had Sharps Doombar on. It was very cloudy but tasted okay. The bar maid/assistant manager was quite obnoxious trying to
tell a group of seasoned ale drinkers that Doombar was meant to be cloudy!! I visited again in the hope that time had healed this establishment. Sadly, it had not. I experienced the same off-hand service as I did about a year ago. Same bar maid couldn't serve us as another customer informed us she had the shits and was still in the toilet. The place looked decidedly grubby and I felt totally unwelcome. How a place like this functions as a business is beyond me!
We declined to wait any longer to be served and didn't fancy the idea of the fat bar maid's shitty fingers touching our pint glasses. So we promptly left.

Now flats for people who decide to have babies when they have no money to pay for themselves.

Landlord is a proper bellend. The owner of the hotel we were staying at warned us that this place was a dump and the landlord was a prick. Quite right he was. Rude and arrogant all for asking for a top up of four short filled pints of lager that cost over 4.50 each. By short filled mean they had a quarter pint of froth in each! Cheeky beggar. Suffice to say we left and went back to The Elva Lodge Hotel for a few drinks before an early-ish night!

The Crown, Sheringham

Dreadfully downtrodden, and dog-earred staff. A pity, because I've previously had good experiences in here, but my last was not so. The beer was putrid and the air was rancid from stale smoke drifting in from the door to the smoking area. The fish we were all served was still frozen in the middle. The sulky waitress could be heard in the kitchen referring to us as "f***ing twats", as we ha dared to send our non cooked still frozen in the middle fish back. With this we immediately left, paid for our drinks and she threatened to phone the police if we did not pay for our frozen fish meals. We told her to get the manager on the phone immediately as he was out at cash and carry but she refused.
We will never go back here, and we have circulated an email to our 130 team workforce not to use this place having recently moved here.

Cricketers, Croydon

Great pub
Jovial landlord
Clean inside and out, good pint served .
Even let the five of use put some tables together in the corner for a business meeting,
Excellent indeed.

The Bird in Hand, Croydon

LESBIAN ONLY PUB

THERE SHOULD BE SIGNS OUTSIDE MAKING IT CLEAR THAT MEN ARE NOT WELCOME RATHER THAN GET RUDE SERVICE AND FILTHY LOOKS FROM OLD LOOKING WOMEN WEARING ILL FITTING 90'S TRACKSUITS.

Arkwrights Wheel, Croydon

WHAT A DUMP

LAZY INCOMPETENT BAR MAID. AWFUL TASTING LAGER

DIRTY INSIDE AND RE-NAMED A STUPID NAME TO TRY AND DRAG IN THE MANY SOMALI AND RASTAFARIAN PEOPLE FROM THE AREA.

The Bedford Tavern, Croydon

Dreadfully smelly and dog-earred new landlord. A pity, because I've previously had good experiences in here, but my last was not so. The beer was putrid and the air was rancid from stale smoke drifting in from the door to the smoking area.
As I work across the road I go here for the convenience factor. Took an age to get a simple cheese and Ham sandwich.
I shall continue to pop in every now and again out of sheer optimism, but I wouldn't recommend this pub just at the moment, especially when there are better pubs (in every respect) within a few minutes' walk.

No drinkable real ale on offer, shabby inside with big bright energy saving bulbs protruding from all directions. Pub has no heating on so the 7 people here all had coats on. Could be a nice pub but much better with the new manager than was with the little short blonde girl who had no idea how to run a pub and was always drunk.

Rude bar maid huffing and puffing everytime someone wanted a drink and she had to stop selecting songs from the jukebox.

Awful staff with silly outfits like the rappers on TV. Often run out of beer . Disgusting real ale (Youngs bitter) . Landlord here clearly clueless on running pubs.

The Rum Puncheon, Gravesend

Good pub, good choice of ales.
Staff not as friendly as they were when we first came in 8 months ago, all the good ones have left.
Still, great atmosphere and friendly clientel.

Pauline's Manor Shades, Gravesend

Rowdy pub , cocaine sniffing punters doing it off of pool table to left of bar, elderly bar maid chose to turn a blind eye.

Pub seemed clean enough and beer was okay.

Nice pub if you want to purchase drugs or have a punch up.

The New Inn, Gravesend

Filthy pub, floor, toilets , tables everything in sight dirty, even the staff in filthy unwashed clothes and no teeth with disgusting breath reaching over the public side of the bar.
Horrible flat pint of Fosters , barmaid said it was CARLSBERG as its all they cold get from Bookers and its the only one the tap fitted- thought passing off was illegal, if I had wanted Carlsberg I would have asked for it.
Outside of the pub is a state, signage fell down, windows smashed . Still , on our tour of all the pubs we thought we'd give it a try.
Stale smell of animal faeces / urine.
Filthy dirty mop and bucket behind bar with marker pen inscription reading "dog".

My brother opted for an out of date bottle of Holsten Pills which was the only good thing! So we left unsurprisingly in about 10 minutes of arriving.
How the local council allow a public house to open in such a state of filth and disrepair beats me.

It will be another one closing down after D:REAM because of clueless lazy and incompetent operators. Used to be a thriving pub about 6 years ago and in excellent order.

The Millers Cottage, Gravesend

Good little pub hidden away down a little residential road.

Saw a band here with my son few weeks ago- excellent .

Clean pub , clean toilets and friendly bar maid Lorna.

Will come back and also try the other pub few doors down next time.

The Jolly Drayman, Gravesend

Nice little pub, old y worldly feel like the old days , nice selection of ales and friendly landlady.
Shame about the words F**k off scrawled on the table though!

Will be back on the next tour of Gravesend!

D:Ream Bar, Gravesend

The Pakistani family that owned it lost their licence and its boarded up until someone who knows what they are doing.

19 Nov 2012 13:37

Ascot Arms, Gravesend

Best pint of Heineken in Gravesend when this place was open.
Last landlord done the place up a treat from the dump it was a year ago and really knew how to keep a good pint and the customers happy.
Will miss the Motorcycle club meets here and crazy Pyrot Geoff's skills on bonfire night.
If this place ever reopens the new owners will have a handful keeping all the local chavs and gypsies at bay..The fat bloke before got beaten up many times and then done a runner with all the money he borrowed from his customers and then fled the country.
If anyone is interested the Gravesend MCC now meets at the Railway Inn, Sole street, see their website for more information.

The Copperfields, Gravesend

Absolutely filthy pub. And I mean filthy. Tables dirty on top and underneath, floor looked like it had not been swept or mopped in weeks, mouldy roast potatoes behind radiator next to table, smashed light bulb on floor under our table. Waitress said she was not going to sweep it up because it was left by the early shift and so she would leave a note for them to do it tomorrow when they came back!!
NO TOILET ROLL ON THE PREMISES! They gave the lady asking a kitchen roll.
Food on buffet looked like it had been sat for an age -I selected the only edible looking food (ham and some mash potato) , Then had to stand with a group of others for around 10 minutes waiting for gravy while the dopey faced school leavers were figuring out how to make it because the head cook had nipped out for cigarettes. No management or supervisory skills present at all. This is the 2nd time and last time ever I will bring my family here. First time I thought maybe they were having some problems and that time the food was very good so foolishly we decided to give them another chance. Foolish indeed.
Faeces wiped all over inside of toilet door still present 4 days after first visit no still no working light bulbs in the toilets.

And then to hear that people get the cleaning chemicals thrown at them and get stabbed by the sacked cook while having a quiet Sunday buffet says it all!! Google it. But go to a more safer and competently run place- perhaps the Harvester?!!

The Richmond Arms, St Johns Wood

Absolute dump of a pub. Threadbare carpets and very dirty and dusty. Most of the outside windows taped up from being smashed. Dumped untaxed beaten up old Peugeot right on the door step obstructing the entrance and footpath-NEED i say more!!!....Yes!
Inattentive lazy bar man. Warm Stella on draught, you have to ask to loo roll from the bar staff to prevent it being stolen apparently!
No real ale at all. Settled for a warm Stella served in a filthy looking flower vase.
Freezing cold evening, everyone including lazy bar staff wearing coats as the pub only has one Argos little fan heater for a lazy attempt to keep customers warm. Probably why they were serving warm lager.
All I could here was the other few customers moaning about how cold the pub was and about the warm bad tasting lager. The Turkish bar man hardly spoke much (maybe could not speak English) but he knew how to tell everyone that the warm beer "Is no my problem boss" !
Advice- avoid at all costs. Probably much safer (physically and hygienically) to buy a few beers from the off licence and stay at home, there are no decent pubs within walking distance from Orchardson St. in the 11 years I've lived here.
