Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

We had a day out in London and we were looking for a place to eat at lunchtime. We found the Doggett by chance looked at the menu outside and we said this looks reasonable. We decided to go upstairs as we found it was a bit Closter phobic. We found a restaurant area with a magnificent view very spacious and we noticed at the bar they sold cask ales! We were shown to our tables and we order our drinks, when they came we ordered our meals, my colleague ordered a cheese burger and I ordered a special steak & ale pie. Both meals were delicious and they were hot. Lunch time was fairly busy and it was only ran by one staff and he was calm and very professional. I asked him about the company and he explained who were the owner, I was interested because I remember when Nicholson were part of Allied Lyons. I would recommend this watering hole when passing this pub on the south bank. KEEP IT UP!!!!!

The West End Brewery, West End

A colleague of mine suggested to come hear for the meal deal. 3 course meal for £4.95!!!! Yes £4.95. We went their at lunch, they a range traditional beers and lagers, it was heaving with seniors and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves.

We went for the deal, slightly small but what do expect for £4.95!!, It was quick, hot, very filling. Excellent manager there I think he does a n excellent service locally. Yes I will go there again. Does any pub beat those offers.

Very busy place with families and kids, very noisy. Food very good and good value for money, thats why its busy. Staff very friend and understaff, when we were there I nearly died of thirst, because the customer before had a large party orderin a meal which many options. Suggest you go to the over 18's bar for quicker drink service. Would go there again.

Planned to go for a walk at Old Winchester Hill. It just rainned and rained! We met with friends from Alton as a half way point from Fareham and we had a meal. we went for the steak & mushroom pie. it was hot and delicious, the pub got very busy after 1200, very popular place and its off the main A32 Road this usedto be a Friary Meux pub. Its by a river and will get busy when sunny. They had a range of Wadsworth Traditional Ales and a guest beer from the Isle of Wight. Check their website on Google well worth a visit, were going to go there again.

The Jolly Farmer Country Inn, Warsash

I have not been to the Jolly Farmer for some time, but a colleague suggested that I should go for a lunchtime meal. When we went in it was a time warp, unbelievable! Like a pub in the 60s the surrounding were genuine, the photos & memorabilia. There are very few inns of this standard, and I think this pub should be listed!

The Jolly Farmer Country Inn has a range of Fuller Real Ale, I saw that HSB was on show, but I declined that brand as it is described as a Hampshire, but made in London, but I tried the other two London Pride & Seafarer, both I enjoyed.

The trading post area, the bar & restaurant were very popular, customers were local and car travelers, they have a lovely garden and a superb display of flowers and recently won a gold medal for Fareham in Bloom.

We ordered a meal from their lunchtime & evening list and I also go for the mixed grill, wow good selection freshly cooked, fill me up, we also had room for a desert, the choice was good, but the desert sheet was not priced, when I got the bill I think they were reasonable.

Well done for the staff, chef also the OGrady family, all very pleasant and will come again.

The Cricketers, Littlewick Green

A group of us had a meal on a Sunday, I travelled from Hampshire and it is a lovely pub, close by a cricket match was in progress, and the pub was busy with locals for wet sales and a thriving meal trade. We had a 3 course meal with a Sundau menu, the desert will make your eyes pop out. Excellent value for money. The outlet is dog friendly and if you make yourself known to the 'govener' he will supply your dog with a small fido meal. Top marks for the staff, excellent service will go again.

The Silver Fern, Warsash

Had an All Day Breakfast on a Tuesday lunchtime, it was freshly cooked and done quickly, it was excellent. This outlet has many meal deals; there is a choice 10 meals you can have which if you have 2 meals it cost you 9.00! There are meal deals in the evening and weekends. There is a quiz night on a Monday, also Sky Sport programmes. The Silver Fern is worth trying for food and real ales, watch out for seasonal deals.

The King and Queen, Hamble

Had a drink and meal In a May weekend at the King & Queen Hamble le Rice. Good selection of Real Ales I had Ringwoods Best Bitter, excellent, had their Ham Egg Chips, on a nice big plate, I enjoyed that, try one of their sandwiches. Could do with a bit of organizing behind the bar, customers were nearly dying of thirst on a hot day, though they did have a large crowd of possibly college students at that time, but eventually sorted out, has an out side drinking very pleasant in the sun, This pub has two unique attractions, their range of rums, I think they get help from the suppliers during Hamble week which is in July. The other I believe is they have a laundrette below the bar, catering for the sailors

The Chapel, Cotford St Luke

Recently I called to Chapel, and what a splendid job they have done for a refurbishment for the outlet. A group of us had a meal there and friendly helpful staff. The food was superb, the dessert was a bit slow to come but it came but they apologised. There were 3 local traditional ales on show, I think possible that they could expand that range. I would recommend a visit

The Horse and Groom, Alresford

Went into Aylesford for a day out, the town was heaving with tourist, shoppers and rail anoraks. At 1200 decided to go for lunch and have and try one of their range of local ales, and had Itchen Valley, We put an order for a meal - see details from Somerset Man. My comment that the beer I had was slightly vinegary, a tip for manager, who was not in at that time, make sure the bar staff, in the morning pull several pints through from the cellar, so the first customer, possibly me does not get the previous night beer, it reflexs on the outlet, and also the brewer which is not his fault. I left my beer behind and went

The Hawkley Inn, Hawkley

I have been several times to the Hawkley Inn, Its cosy, lovely garden, excellent place for an English Summer. Their range of independant brewers ales are mainly local and their food is excellent, but little pricey. Well worth a trip
