The Broadway Cafe Bar, Nottingham

Can be a bit hectic & busy at times, food v. popular despite not being that great, but great selection of booze & great staff, it's rising popularity has made it the hub of hockley, thriving while quite a few other places go down the pan. Always been a fan of the cinema & glad to see it going from strength to strength.

The Hand and Heart, Nottingham

An absolute gem of a gastropub, with tables for food in the sandstone cave at the back (and a new food space upstairs also), great ambience & decor, friendly service & good beer. I wish I went more often but I work over the other side of the city centre...

The Rescue Rooms, Nottingham

Good quirky decor and general atmosphere, service could be better, but still worth a visit, serve food til late which is ace, need to bring back curly fries though. Music good, but avoid the open mike night, those nickleback wannabes shouldn't be allowed near an instrument!

The Orange Tree, Nottingham

Great decor, great selection of food & booze (their current rum collection makes me veerry happy), nice to have a well-made cocktail at a reasonable price (get the 1 cocktail card, well worth it), without having to be served by someone who thinks they're a bartending jesus (cough*brassmonkey*cough). You do sometimes have to wait a bit for service, due to cocktail orders, but that's how it is in cocktail bars. The ale is occassionally not quite up to scratch, if they could work on that, all will be forgiven!

The Malt Cross, Nottingham

A hidden archetectural gem - I always take visitors to the city here. A great place to lounge & have a natter on a long afternoon, with quality booze & the food is pretty good e.g the 'big orange' veggie burger, but I tend to be dissappointed with the accompaniments - the chips, cobs & salad could be better. Good live music, on a great little stage too.

The Dragon, Nottingham

A well worked blend of traditonal pub & more modern bar (e.g good spirit selection), always a lively atmosphere, good mix of clientelle. The grub is pretty good too.

The Keans Head, Nottingham

Definately one of my top 5 pubs in the entire city for food, booze & atmosphere, with friendly staff & regulars. Along with good local ale, they quite often have some favourites in from my hometown in Yorkshire. The homemade Scotch egg is top notch, as is the whisky shelf split into the regions.

Cafe Bar Contemporary, Nottingham

A great escape from the city centre zoo on weekend nights! I've seen some really good bands there e.g Manieres Des Bohemians (amazing fiddle player). Well kept Castle Rock Ale, good coffee & loose leaf tea, plus a nice sunny terrace for the afternoons.
