The Bullfinch, Riverhead

Feel some of the reviews are a bit harsh - the beers are from McMullens (award winning beers - at least one of their ales was a beer of the year in 2012 at the National Beer Festival) and the food has always been good when I have been there, or have I just been lucky?

George and Dragon, Chipstead

Excellent food and beer from local Westerham Brewery - not cheap, but the steaks are something else!

The Chequers, Sevenoaks

Delighted to see The Chequers in Sevenoaks back in the CAMRA 'Good Beer Guide - 2013' - probably because they always serve good beer!

The Rose and Crown Sevenoaks, Sevenoaks

Pub has recently been re-opened and went here with family on a Sunday afternoon. Not cheap, but then you get what you pay for. The food was excellent and a choice of 3 real ales - tried one that I hadn't heard of before, and was very well kept. Think rating on this website reflect what it used to be like rather than what it's like now. 9/10.

The Gaping Goose, Garforth

Have been in recently and my experience is in contrast to those below - the beer (Tetley's) was excellent and quick service. Never had a problem with staff or the beer, which has always been good.

The Brown Cow and Dragon, Whitkirk

The landlord keeps a number of real ales (up to 6) on from varying breweries - so thumbs up for that. Some are are very good, others a bit hit and miss. Not sure there are enough ale drinkers to turnover enough beer to warrant 6 hand pumps, as a lot of people are lager drinkers. The food is good and very reasonably priced - a choice of Englisha and Thai. Better than the rating here suggests.

The Wensleydale Heifer, West Witton

Went here with my wife, parents and kids for my daughter's 3rd birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. The staff were great with the kids (who got baloons and a fluffy sheep each), there was a kids menu and the service was excellent overall. The food was great and the beer good too - Black Sheep plus a house ale from the local brewery. Not the cheapest food in the world, but you get what you pay for here. Very nice country inn and restaurant.

The Three Horseshoes, Leyburn

Was staying in the area for a week a couple of weeks ago and popped in for a quick pint - excellent choice of beer (six), all from North of England and mostly local. The barmaid was a very frendly lady - would have stayed longer but for the fact that I was driving. Shame.

Bricklayers Arms, Chipstead

Best pub in the area - very decent food and great ale (it's a Harvey's owned pub). Set next to the lakes, nice to sit outside in summer of hide inside in winter.

Crown Point Inn, Seal

The only way to get here is to drive, as it's on A25 in middle of no-where, but once there the beer was good and a couple of decent ales to choose from.

The Padwell Arms, Seal

Went walking round Stone Street and visited this pub afterwards, on Monday lunch time last week. Not been in for a while, but it would seem that the previous Landlord from a couple of years ago is back running the pub. Had lunch, which was very good, the service prompt and I was also pleased to see 6 real ales on offer (particularly after all that walking, as I had quite a thirst). The beer, esp the Larkins, was spot on. This pub is in such a beautiful location, especially on a sunny day overlooking the orchards. It's good to see that the pub is back in the hands of the old Landlord.

The Bull, Otford

This place could be so much better - in fact it used to be so much better not so long ago. Don't know if the Management changed about 2-3 years ago, but the food and beer seemed to suddenly deteriorate and has been poor ever since, hence the recent negative comments about The Bull.

The Crown, Otford

Was in not so long back and had several pints of the Harveys, which was very well kept. Overtaken the Bull as the better pub in Otford.

Sennockian, Sevenoaks

There are worse pubs than this about, and the real ale tends to be quite well kept. Last time I was in, I had a couple of pints of Westerham ale, which were very nice.

The Oak Tree, Sevenoaks

Good pub for a beer, a bit of food and watching the football (one of the few places to watch the sport in Sevenoaks). Very large pub with different areas to sit in, including areas away from the TVs. Food not bad and usually 3 or 4 real ales to choose from.

The Briar Dene, Whitley Bay

Grew up in area but moved away 20 years ago - went back last week to have lunch and a couple of beers at this pub - both beer and food (fish and chips) excellent. Plenty of choice on the real ales too, which is always a bonus.

The Chequers, Sevenoaks

My favourite pub in Sevenoaks town centre. Usually 3 or 4 real ales to choose from, not too busy most of the time, and atmosphere friendly and relaxed.

The Hope and Anchor Hotel, Alnmouth

Went for a family lunch here last week - had the mixed grill, which was excellent, as were all the meals. Choice of 3 real ales - all local ales, and good ones too. Best pub in Alnmouth - although the others seem pretty good as well.

The Bullfinch, Riverhead

Have lived in Sevenoaks for 4 years and the Bullfinch carpark used to be full of Corsas with blacked out windows.

I have been to this pub/restaurant several times since it was refurbished a year and a half ago, and I have got to say that I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews on this website - perhaps this is because the population of Sevenoaks are a moaning lot!!

There are usually 4 different real ales on offer (good ones like Harveys, Westerham, Spitfire, Doom Bar) as well as a good choice of wines and lagers. There are seperate eating/drinking areas, with log fires in winter. The food is of a very good standard - more quality than quantity and I have found that the staff are always friendly/helpful. Children/babies are always welcomed (although it has never become over-run with them, and the pub is big enough to sit away from them if you want) and the beer garden at the back is great on a summer's evening. Not the cheapest place around, but the chavs of the past have been priced out.

What more do people want from a pub?
