Huge pub just off the A25 near Seal. Big range of food available. It all seemed good and reasonably priced, especially if you go midweek when the carvery is only £5.95. Staff all falling over themselves to be helpful. Several beers on pump, I had the Westerham 'Spirit of Kent' which was fine.

Went here for the first time today. One person in our party was in a wheelchair. 1st no disable parking, but not a big problem. Then two lots of stairs to carry the wheelchair down, not good, third, none of us like rare meat and that was what was on offer, so we left. Can't comment on the beer. The waitress was polite and tried to help but don't go here with anyone in a wheelchair!

Dubious about visting this pub after a disasterous visit last year, and reading about it in the local rags... But heard The Crown has a new manager... all I've got to say is a vast improvement has been made... Beers are well kept & the food & service is much improved, however, don't expect much conversation from the carving chef!

It is in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide because when it was surveyed (January 2011) the pub was regularly serving good beers in excellent condition. CAMRA is aware that there have been changes at this establishment since, and the 2013 Guide will take account of this...

You're right, mtaylor, it is there! I couldn't believe it, so I just went and checked, and there it is in the 2012 edition. Why indeed? The only beer I've tried there was almost undrinkable. Perhaps we've both just been unlucky - but I suspect not....
