Browns Cafe Bar, Coventry

Not a pleasant pub.

Turned away a lad because he was in uniform - he was a pallbearer at his brother's funeral. This isn't the first time they have told solider to sling their hook - just the first time it ended up being televised.

It used to be a public lavatory years ago - but now if it is just the attitude that stinks.

The O Bar, Wellingborough

It's a bit strange this venue. By week a reasonable quality hotel and at the weekend a too loud and noisy venue for people who want to scream loudly.

I would dread to be staying in the hotel Friday or Saturday nights, the din from the middle storey disco must drive residents mad.

Years ago, it used to be the Cromwell Bar - and was quite a good venue then. Not quite sure who it pitches at now though - unless you want your music so loud you cannot communicate with mates or partners.

The Litten Tree, Wellingborough

Closed.

Looked at using the venue for a weekly fetish night for Wellingborough but so terribly cold. Water leak damaged ceilings and basically the place needs gutting and revamping.

Problem is until the owners acknowledge the lad that died outside with perhaps some little mini gathering / memorial evening instead of pretending it never happened, it will never be a popular place as hundreds of the town folks shun it.

A really tough venue for someone buying the leasehold unawares.

The Eagle, Wellingborough

Closed.

More to the point, burned down a couple of years ago and is now a level site.

The Horseshoe Inn, Wellingborough

Truly fab pub. Organises several event nights per week - comedy nights most of the year, poker nights, ALWAYS live music every week. Also tend to organise special events (usually free) at bank holiday weekends as well. Just done Rocky Horror pub crawl and the August Christmas crawl. Yes, you DID read that right.

Always a very diverse and good natured crowd. One of the busiest venues in Wellinborough at the weekend - and yet no hassle. If you want to meet new folks when it is a little less busy, then midweek might be better to bimble along.

Landlords Deb & Nick keep a watchful eye on things - but are great fun, easy going and always up for doing something for laughs.

If you haven't tried the 'Shoe on a Friday or Saturday night, some down and join in with some of us regulars. There are some pretty amazing people to meet there - and no "attitude" to spoil things.
