bensonby - If there's anyone ignorant here it's you:
1. The bouncers aren't on all the time, only at late evenings and they are there to stop chavs coming in, starting fights and making themselves look like the idiots they truely are.
2. A large portion of the customers are heavy metal fans and for you to say we're "the great unwashed" is the most stupid comment I have ever heard and a great unfounded generalisation about something you know nothing about - Try calling the locals that and see what you get.
3. The reason the GC is so crowded is because the clieantelle are friendly, the beer is decent and the staff are great at what they do.
If you really want to comment on a pub, be there for more than 5 minutes and find out if your assumptions correct first.

Sunday Night DJ is ace - Rock/Metal played all night. Has the hostile and Northern Alternative nights on at the Attic and other nights too...

Great pub, no jukebox but the barstaff play everything from Motown to Metal on CD... Great pool table, excellent ciders and a quiz machine - Unbeatable

I have nothing against the staff, my comments were from a couple of ni8ghts where it was dead... If the managment or staff are reading this - I hope this is better.

After reading back my comments, I'd like to re-aafirm them: What I meant was that the intake of custom wasn't as much as before... Hope this clears anything up

This pub USED to be excellent but after a strict "no in any way alternative-looking staff" policy, has stripped it of all but a fraction of soul... At least Mike still works there.

Nah mate, with the present and previous managment running it, the one great name of the Salisbury has had the soul well and truely sucked out of it and is slowly turning into a 'Garrett Lite'... It's meant to be rock, not rock-themed.

An excellent pub, a good crowd and some excellent beer and tunes on the jukebox... Staff are generally snobbish with people they don't like... Go figure.

Chris is ruining a Manchester tradition here and before anyone says "It's not a pub, it's a business", that's arse too cos it did tons of cuisness AS a pub when Mark was there
