Up for sale or to let, which isn't surprising. The real ale they served was a bit hit and miss. Was a big student place but I think they ditched the place for pastures new.

Bit of a spit and sawdust type place but a couple of cask ales now available. Cheap food at lunchtime.

I've not been in this place since it was called the Swinging Sporran and in many ways, it's not changed! Not a drop of ale to be had, alas so not really one for me.

Just to get this out of the way: there isn't a single ale on tap, the lager can be dodgy at times and the less said about the floor downstairs the better.

However, this is one of the liveliest and most exciting pubs I've ever been in. It hosts any number of gigs and has served my band well over the years.
It's in a great location if you want to meet people from other parts of the city, it's open till 3am on Friday & Saturday (& 1am on Sunday) and was the only place in town I could find that was open on Xmas Eve. Most of the staff are absolutely great and I'd say it has a good atmosphere.

It's not a very refined pub, it's never going to win any awards from CAMRA, but it's certainly one of the best places to go boozing in Manchester.

Pull the place down and replace it with anything but what is there now. Absolute dive.
