The Harp, Covent Garden

A splendid example of a traditional pub in a central London location. The beer is exceptional (I particularly recommend the Harveys). Both the staff and clientele are delightful. I must also thoroughly recommend that you enjoy one of the fabulous O'Hagans sausages with your pint. The Harp is a real treat for the genuine pub enthusiast.

The Waltham Oak, Walthamstow

Nice re-fit. Sadly, as a famous philosopher once said "You can't polish a turd"

The Castle, Walthamstow

Utter plop

The County Arms, Highams Park

There's something wonderfully reassuring about this grotty, slightly smelly local mixer. The deeply disturbing sight of the regal (its anything but) snooker hall opposite and the wide selection of chavs knocking around outside means you can't wait to get through the door. Once inside, you're presented with pretty average service and below average beer. Having said that, the atmosphere is very pleasant, there's plenty of audio visual entertainment (the jukebox is top notch) and the wide selection of Highams Park legends that frequent the place mean you'll definately leave with a smile on your face. I really can't think of a better boozer to enjoy 5 pints of flat, warm Kronenbourg.

The Keston Lodge, Islington

If this is a pub, cards is a sport. Not really my bag but of it's type, it's ok

The Sheepwalk, Leytonstone

Nice little mixer. Got tangled in there on Saturday - thoroughly enjoyable.

The Royston Arms, Chingford

I'd rather stick rusty drawing pins in my eyes than drink here. Having said that, I've not been in for some time. During my last visit, my mate accidentally tripped the Elvis impersonator over - Poor fella almost had a very nasty accident with his mic. Sadly, he was still able to sing.....

The Kings Head, Chingford

IKEA showroom with beer.

The Thomas Willingale, Chingford

Hellhole. I missed a train at Chingford BR and popped over for a quick pint. Probably the worst 20 minutes of my life to date. To put this in perspective, I was once buried alive.

Gios, Chingford

In principle, its quite a nice bar. Sadly, its populated by pretentious nobodys with delusions of grandeur that think the world begins and ends in Chingford.

The Nags Head, Walthamstow

Hateful place. No atmosphere and full of lefty lecturer types speaking too loudly about what they read in the Guardian. I hope Roger and his strawberry beer are very happy together.

The Queens Arms, Walthamstow

Without a doubt, this is finest pub in the Village. Wonderful characters in front of and behind the bar. A splendid selection of intoxicating liquor. And, definitely the best DJ in Waltham Forest. This is a proper pub and really refreshing for anyone that's ever had the misfortune to suffer the sterile enviroment that The Nags Head or The Castle have to offer.
