The Foxhound Inn, Brixton

Excellent food, reasonably priced, generous portions. 5 real ales but driving so only sampled the Courage best which was very good. Pleasant, friendly staff, will definitely go back & highly recomended.

The California Country Inn, Modbury

Popedin for a lunchtime snack & had the best pub grub we've had for ages. My wife had a crab baguette which came in a granary baguette with delishious home made coleslaw & a side salad. My daughter had a steak & caramelised onion baguette with slaw & salad. I hade a seafood board which was crabmeat, prawns, smoked mackeral, & salmon with coleslaw, salad & a chunk of bread. The cost was 8, 7, & 10 respectively which was excellent value for what we had. I could have done with another chunk of bread to go with my huge pile of crabmeat & prawns but otherwise all the food was excellent.
I had a pint of Otter ale which was excellent. They also had draught Doombar & London Pride bitter. My wife drank a pint of Coors light which was nice on a warm day. Several other lagers & ciders were available.
The service was fast & very friendly. Highly recomended.

New Inn, Shortstanding

Now under new ownership.
Three real ales on tap, all well kept and reasonably priced.
A fine selection of lagers, ciders and wines.
Extensive pub style food menu all very reasonably priced. The food my wife & I have sampled so far has been of excellent flavour and plentiful.
Very welcoming owners & staff, a large rear garden - everything a country pub should be.

The Moody Cow, Upton Bishop

New owners only been here two weeks. Very nice friendly people. Two real ales on tap both of which were well kept. The lunchtime menu was a bit limited but all freshly prepared. The limited choice may mean that not everyone in the party can be pleased. My wife did not like the soggy chips but my sausage cassoulet was tasty & plentiful.

The Globe Inn, Berry Hill

New owners, new to pub trade still feeling their way. Newly decorated and nice friendly atmosphere. Only one real ale on tap but another coming soon. No food as yet but that is also coming soon, after the kitchen is updated.

Dog and Muffler Inn, Berry Hill

In a valley in the middle of nowhere but usually very busy, booking recomended in the evening.
2 Draft ales always on tap. Today was Doombar & Hair of the Dog but they vary from time to time.
Food is excellent, reasonably priced & generous portions.
One critisism from my wife was that there were no baby changing facilities.
Worth seeking out.
