The Royal Oak, Walton

Oh dear, what a dismal place! The only beer on was Moor Revival which tasted awful. No warming welcome or fires. There is no reason for us to visit again. One point for being open.

The Crown and Victoria Inn, Tintinhull

Another country pub ruined by being given a ghastly corporate makeover. Lots of plastic looking oak

Only two real ales - Wadworth and Butcombe.

Its only saving grace was a roaring log fire about 100 yards away!

The Poachers Pocket, Chelynch

Friendly village pub with flagstone floors, two real ales and a guest ale.
Very dog friendly.

The Blue Peter, Polperro

What a super pub in a typical fishing village! Lots of dark wood and atmosphere. Climb the steep stairs and you can see into the kitchen and sit at a table level with the window overlooking the harbour. Fantastic fresh homemade crabcakes and perfectly cooked vegetables. The staff are friendly and the beer excellent. What more coould you ask of a pub?

Ship Inn, Mevagissey

Another plastic pub, but the beer was drinking very well. Had a laugh when a customer asked for a steak. How would you like it cooked ? said the barman. Well done please, came the reply. What sauce would you like with it? Err - brown please. No, said the patient barman, I meant pepper or blue cheese!!!

The London Inn, Padstow

Good to visit this establishment again after eight years to find nothing changed. Old fashioned and nicely shabby pub down a side street. HSB was excellent served by the friendly landlord dressed in shorts in October!

King of Prussia, Fowey

Good welcome but no HSD. Plastic roast pork served on a table with fantastic views of the harbour.

Kings Arms, Luxulyan

Ghastly platic pub and no pasties available at 12.15am on a Saturday morning. The bar staff spent three quarters of an hour stocking the shelves instead of the kitchen. Customers nearby were presented with plates of the palest uncooked chips I've ever seen. After one regular fed the pub dog, despite notices asking customers not to, we left.

The Cellar Bar, Mevagissey

We didn't even venture in the pub as it would have meant wading through empty crisp packets, broken roof slates and glasses strewn in front of the door. Heaven knows what the inside must have been like!

Fountain Inn, Mevagissey

Looks good from the outside, but unless you are a serious smoker, don't bother going in. We entered via the front and managed to find the side door through the dense smoke without stopping.

Crown Inn, St Ewe

Found this pub while staying in the area. Well kept St. Austell beers. Low ceilings, antique bits and pieces, dogs and cats everywhere.

The Waggon and Horses, Castle Cary

This is a chinese resaurant and a pub. Good Timmy Taylor Landlord, friendly locals and staff. I wonder what was going through the owner's mind as he carried a bottle of vinegar to a couple who had ordered fish and chips?!
The authentic menu looks inviting.

The Farmers Inn, West Hatch

Having told my long lost cousin and his wife from Hungerford that this was a good place for Sunday lunch, I booked a table. The main course arrived too late and conversation was made almost impossibe by a screaming babe in arms - from the other side of the room! My complaint fell on deaf ears. Shame, as the food, wine list and service was really good.
Thanks Nige.

The Luppitt Inn, Luppitt

Unique pub in a farmyard with a small bar/servery to the right of the front door and a second room to the left and that's it! Otter bitter from the barrell, gin and whiskey on optics and a variety of bottles. Mary Wright, the landlady, is 84 and says the pub hasn't changed in 100 years. We were the only two there on Bank Holiday Monday!

The White Hart, Littleton on Severn

What a find! We went to the pub for a meal with friends and family. A quintesential English pub with dark wood and lots or rooms hidden away, stone and brick floors, fireplaces, garden and a large carpark. The food was simple, varied, well cooked and inexpensive, and the house white - a Chilean Chardonnay - was good value. Not surprisingly, it was very busy, even on a Thursday. Perhaps a real ale other than Youngs would have been a plus.

The George, Donyatt

What is about landlords and carparking? This is the second time I have been told to repark, (see The Old Inn at Holton,) this time by a towel waving landlord who said he 'was very busy', but still managed to find time to supervise the parking! Needless to say we left, ending up at The Dinnigton Docks where you can park where you like!

The Old Inn, Holton

Rude and unfriendly landlord who insisted that I park my van sideways on before entering the pub! It was a huge carpark with only two other cars in it. Needless to say we left to find somewhere else.
