The Volunteer, Sutton Abinger

Re-opened under new management on 18 October. Popped in on opening night for a drink - warm welcome, friendly atmosphere, busy with people eating and very favourable comments being made. Early days but a very promising start.

The Tanners Arms, Horsham

Recently changed hands. New landlady making a real effort to get this pub back on track. Serves as good a pint of Hall & Woodhouse Sussex as you can get.

The Parrot Inn, Forest Green

Beer - good selection and well kept. Very busy pub with friendly helpful staff. Had a snack outside. Very good & will be returning to try the restaurant.
Well worth a visit but could be overly busy in the summer.

The Star Inn, Rusper

Popped in again late last night - probably the friendliest landlord in the area - the beer was excellent - a choice of London Pride, Spitfire, Sussex & Abbot Ale

The Tudor Close, Ferring

The Chequers Inn, Rowhook

Sadly unable to cater for people with special dietary needs. Previously visited with a vegan and was told they could only cook to the menu - we understood they employed chefs! Made the mistake of visiting again a year later. Same ownership. Same service! Requested a salad sandwich & a mountain of lettuce appeared stuffed in some bread - do they not have tomatoes, cucumber, onions, carrots, avacado etc?

The Foresters Arms, Horsham

Probably the best pub in Horsham at the moment - a real traditional pub with welcoming landlord and landlady who actually work. Excellent beer, good food, friendly atmosphere and clearly popular with the locals.

The Boatman, Guildford

Initial impression: a bit rough and "tired looking".
There was a scrum at the bar and yet only one table taken inside - there were plenty of staff but poorly managed. Slow service for food as well but when it did finally arrive it was served by friendly helpful waiter. Food average. Back to bar for another drink - same scrum - couldn't be bothered to wait. Won't rush back.

The Star Inn, Rusper

Visited lunchtime today - busy with warm friemdly atmosphere - Spitfire excellent - many compliments being paid about the food. Only had a snack but will be returning soon for a full meal. Strongly recommended if you like a traditional pub with good beer and food.
