The Slug and Lettuce, Wimbledon

Great place for watching sport. 3 massive screens on each floor (and loads of smaller ones). Manager was very helpful in finding a more obscure match for us.

The Grove Tavern, South Wimbledon

Went into The Grove on Sunday afternoon after Celtic were on T.V. Large numbers of people singing along to a folk band playing playing IRA songs.

Wont be going back. Nasty :-(

The Fox and Grapes, Wimbledon Common

OMG ! more like WTF ?

Hopefully a moderator can remove the obvious spam from this list of reviews. Makes you wonder why an establishment feel the need to do this.

no dogs - used to love meeting the friendly dogs in there
no wellies - handy after a walk on the common in Febuary then

So they had doombar apparently just what Wimbledon was missing.
eh ? They did very well with beer before as do many other Wimbledon pubs as anyone who actually drinks beer in Wimbledon would know.

Hopefully it wont last and we can get the pub back ! Our worst fears have been realised despite the PR nonesense that was released before it closed. Stuff this Ghastly-o-Pub.

The Blues Kitchen, Camden

Disappointing, a couple of good bar staff but mostly very poor, waitress service was excellent however. No proper beer or ales at all, full of large office parties, eventually there was some live music, but it wasn't blues.

It's more a cheezy american theme cocktail bar rather than a real music bar.

The Prince of Wales, Wimbledon

Good refurb, nothing too drastic and nicely done. Beer still good.
(bogs still stink a bit)

Still owned by Punch but now under the Taylor Walker branding (at least on the Menus) rather than the old TJ Bernard or the more recent Sprit Group branding.

The Fox and Grapes, Wimbledon Common

wimbledon guardian reports that Michelin star chef Claude Bosi has bought it and will re-open at the start of February and he pledges not to destroy it as a drinkers pub

let's hope he doesn't but I fear for the worst :-(

The Prophecy Members Club, Wimbledon

Odd place, great if you like blue lights, like giant versions of those insect trap lights. Seems to be closed randomly. Very generous 3 a beer 'special offer' :-0

The Prince of Wales, Wimbledon

A return to form for the POW in recent years. I'd say back to No1 spot for the POW (out of the pubs 'down the hill' in Wimbledon anyway). Friendly staff and the management are obviously making an effort. Good selection of beers and well kept ale (a few years back the ales could be hit and miss).

The Alexandra, Wimbledon

Still have a soft spot for this place BUT as others have said over the years it has got too expensive and service is poor. Worth popping in

The Hand and Raquet, Wimbledon

This place just installed a new landlord and had a recent makeover. The good things about this pub were fast and friendly service and a good view of the football, so what have they changed ?

New slow moving staff and all but 1 screen have been removed.

So far disappointing, early days so hopefully they'll learn to serve a bit quicker and put some screens back otherwise I can't see any reason at all for going back. Taking out the screens just before the World Cup seems almost suicidal for this pub.

Beer was still ok, although I was gasping by that stage :-) hopefully that will continue.
