The Sun, Stafford

Great selection of real ales and cider. Well worth a visit, even if you have to stagger back to the Travelodge. We went at the weekend and it does smell a bit foody rather than beery. Nice all the same.

The Spittal Brook, Stafford

Walked up from town to have a look at this place. It seemed a bit strange thet the front half of the pub was empty and the back quite busy. Seemed friendly enough and the Pedigree was passable.

White Horse Inn, Keswick

Called in here after walking over Blencathra. I don't know if this influenced our taste buds but the beer was excellent. We sampled the Nimmo's XXXX by Camerons brewery. Just to be sure we had a second pint... Yep it was still great.
Had a bit of crack with some of the locals in this friendly pub.

The White Lion, Colsterworth

Turned up on a friday evening, family in tow, looking for food. No problem, we were escorted to a table straight away. I sampled a couple of the Batemans and have to say they were most enjoyable. Food was really good.

The Blue Cow Inn, South Witham

We received a warm welcome from both the manager and the owner and were treated to stories of the history of the pub. They brew their own beer here and I reckon it is pretty good. The food wasn't bad either although our teenage daughter chose a risotto which left her still hungry. All in all a very nice place.
