user reviews of the White Lion, Colsterworth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is the only pub in the attractive village of Colsterworth. It appears to have been built in the 1960s on the site of a former coaching inn, but incorporating a few parts of the original inn. Behind this curious facade is a very friendly and welcoming and immaculately clean establishment, serving three real ales and excellent food. When we visited last week, Adnam's Bitter,Doom Bar and Spitfire were available. The Spitfire was pretty good and I have no complaints at being charged £3.20 a pint.

Our food was excellent. It was freshly prepared and nicely served, it was top quality and very good value for money.

If you look closer, the White Lion is perhaps a little bit tired, but overall, it is worth more than 9/10 so I am giving it full marks. It is well worth a detour off the A1 and it is not too far from Woolsthorpe Manor, where Isaac Newton was born, which is now in the care of the National Trust.

Turned up on a friday evening, family in tow, looking for food. No problem, we were escorted to a table straight away. I sampled a couple of the Batemans and have to say they were most enjoyable. Food was really good.

A really nice local pub, just off the A1, friendly locals and staff, real ales, newly refurbed and suitable for the whole family. The sunday carvery is well worth a look, but well worth booking, food is served all day with a very strong and varied menu.
This is well worth a visit next time you're passing or fancy a good night out.

Freindly village pub with 3 well kept real ales, games room and restaurant. Food is excellent and the Sunday carvery is one not to be missed. Overall this pub is quality.

Looks can be decieving, looks 60's from the outside but nicely refurbished inside. At least 2 real ales, good wine list, friendly staff. Food OK, but nothing special. Worth coming off the A1 if you want to stop.
