Had Sunday lunch here recently. Although the food was fairly good, our dishes were swimming in gallons of gravy. A waitress got our order wrong, but it was soon corrected.

The biggest problem is the noise from the hard floor. Really! A lovely wooden floor and the management decide to employ slightly vacant 18 year olds who insist on wearing high heeled shoes and stomp around the room. It's like eating in a tap dancing school.

Either wear soft shoes or learn to walk properly. The constant clack clack clack really got on our t*ts and spoiled an otherwise relaxing Sunday lunch!

Enigma, Market Harborough

Not bad for Harborough! Busy at the weekends and great in the summer when the action spills out onto the pavement.

The Bell and Crown, Chiswick

Popped in for dinner and a pint. Nicely kept beer and the food was reasonable too. This sort of pub reminds me of my time living in London, they are quite unique and well worth a visit.

The Plough Inn, Horsell

> Fizzyhead you go back 4-5 times they must be doing something right

No, they aren't! The pub is very convenient on a pleasant bike ride for us across the common. They can get it wrong a couple of times (everyone has bad days) but every time I've been there, the food has been crap. Urquell has only ever reviewed this pub so readers should be highly suspicious this is the miserable landlord defending his below average fare.

Somebody else, please do try the food and let us know what you think!

Queens Head, Saddington

Great country pub geared up for food. Much of the space turned over to tables and the meals are not disappointing as many pubs tend to be. Well kept beer too and fabulous views over the rolling hills.

The Bell and Crown, Chiswick

An out of the way London pub with well kept Chiswick Bitter and reasonable food. Friendly service but slightly long narrow cramped layout not good for large groups. Plenty of parking but didn't get the chance to see the river as it was a cold November evening when we went.

The Plough Inn, Horsell

What a shame! A recent discovery, on first impressions, the Plough is ideal. There is a selection of good beers (varies) and a huge menu .. but, the food is so disappointing! A sign by the door implies the food is worth waiting for. It's not!!! We've eaten at the Plough 4-5 times now and every time has been a let down so it's now off our "places to eat" list. The "home made" pies are not much to write about, the meat content tiny diced pieces. The burger I had last weekend was simply disgusting, like a cheap burger van. The chips undercooked and from a freezer, not "home made".

The landlord is fairly miserable too and our request to turn either the plasma TV or the music down (both blaring away in competition) was met with a moan despite there being no-one in the room except an old regular propping up the bar.

The music choice is fairly depressing too, reminding me of the Harry Enfield "Smashy & Nicey" scene where his wife left him.

The beer was well kept and we'll still stop by for a refreshing pint when we pass but it's off my list of destinations to grab a pub meal. There is a sign just inside the kitchen door says "no bar staff allowed in kitchen". Perhaps the landlord should let one in as an experiment, they may be able to prepare some half decent grub!
