The Jolly Farmer, Bramley

Average pub, very good food, well kept ale, high prices, strange custom base and odd staff. Carefull before you challenge my view, I've kown this pub quite well for over 40 years ! Less of the hype and criticism please, my Uncle drank here between 1935 - 87. It's an average village pub and no more. 6 /10

The Five Bells, West Chiltington

For the real old village pub goer, this is a bit of a gem, it's a bit higglety-piggilty in some ways but the food is superb, ale well kept and the staff a bit of a laugh. It's about 9 months since we last visited but I'm sure little has changed. If I remember correctly, the landlord has been 'in post' some decades now. It's the sort of place I would recommend to tourists to Britain !!!!!!

The William Bray , Shere Guildford Surrey

Oh....deary me ! donnadonk, your loyalty is admirable but please do read what experienced BITE contributors have written about this pub. It's average in most ways but the staff are better than average. Please read what username 'shipsheps' has written - it's spot on in my humble opinion. In rating terms, it's a genuine 6 - rising 7 and no more.

Dace331, best to give up your quest for this pub, you're up against seasoned 'battle-hardened' BITEs ! They have had more reviews deleted than you'll ever write !

Sorry, this pub is nothing to shout too loudly about but the staff and service are better than average. We much prefer the Hurtmore, Grantley or Three Compasses.

The Chimney Boy, Faversham

dano33, it's an average pub in many respects but they have had to deal with many problems. Patience my dear boy ! I happen to know this landlady from elsewhere - she's a difficult person but okay when you get to know her.

Pub, Chilworth

bretty, click on giveusabeer's username. You will see he's been around a bit ! I grew up in Bramley, went to this pub hundreds of times over many years. My last visit was about 3 months ago and it's still only average with well above average prices. There are plenty better in this area 6 / 10

"guy waiting tables did so in shorts and a polo shirt, not quite what you might expect"

You are correct jolly_local. Not what I or, any of our friends would expect here !

We haven't visited for some months now so will ask friends who live across the road what has changed ?

By far one of the better pubs in this area, we have stopped here on a regular basis in the last two years, never disappointed. Food and garden, superb and reasonably priced.

The Three Compasses, Alfold

Mike52....the landlord (Tony Davis) is more than a bit of a character, he's some kind of institution in his own right. I've known him since I was a child in the 1950s ! One of the best real country pubs in south west Surrey. I also agree with simon99, the locals are something to behold and tell your grandchildren about !
